CHAPTER 31

Disneyland

"All our dreams come true if we have the courage to pursue them." ~Walt Disney

The week flew by, and we played our last show in America. I was just finishing up packing the last of my things. I was really sad that the tour was over, but I kept reminding myself that I'd be back singing in a month. I was worried about what would happen to Zach and I, though. Would we be able to stay together even though we weren't going to be able to see each other every day?

My thoughts were soon interrupted by a knock at the door. I walked over to it and opened it to find Zach holding something.

"What is that?" I asked.

"Our plans for today," he replied, handing it to me. I looked down, and I saw that they were tickets for something. A closer look told me that we were headed to Disneyland! I looked up at him, smiling.

"I thought we should have one more day of fun before we headed home tonight. We can go as soon as you're done packing."

"I'm done," I said. "I just have to bring it out to the bus."

"Alright, I'll help you." Since Zach was helping me, it only took us one trip to bring everything downstairs and out to the tour bus. As soon as everything was settled, we headed over to the car that Zach was borrowing for the day. Zach said it would only take about 30 minutes to get there. I'd never been to Disneyland before, so I was definitely excited. Apparently, it was pretty obvious.

"Why do you keep smiling?" Zach asked. "Wait, that was a stupid question. You're with me. Obviously you would be smiling."

"WE'RE GOING TO DISNEYLAND!!!" I yelled.

"Haven't you been there?"

"No," I said. "I went to Disneyworld when I was 7. But this is DisneyLAND. There's a difference." He just laughed.

"Luckily for you, you're dating Zach Beeken, world-famous country superstar, which means that we don't have to wait in any lines."

"Seriously?"

"It's one of the perks of being famous."

"Awesome," I said. We drove for a while longer and then he finally pulled into the parking lot.

"There's so much to do," I said. "How are we supposed to get through it all?"

"I think you're forgetting that you came here with Zach Beeken. No lines. No wait. The only thing that matters is you and me." I smiled at him.

"Okay. Let's go."

We headed inside the park and Zach was struggling with the map.

"I can't find where we're at," he said. I took the map out of his hands and flipped it around.

"We're here," I said, pointing at the map. After Zach finally figured out where we were going, we headed off. As we were walking past Sleeping Beauty's castle, we were approached by a photographer.

"Care for a picture?" she asked.

"Yes," Zach said. We posed and she took the picture. She told us where to go if we wanted to buy it later, and handed us the ticket.

"Thank you!" I said. Zach and I headed to Tomorrowland first. My favorite ride would have to be Space Mountain. We also went to Frontierland that morning, and then we decided to take a break for lunch. As soon as we sat down, though, we were swarmed with fans.

"Are you really Zach Beeken?"

"Guys, look! It's Zach and Katie!!"

"Restless Road!!"

Zach looked at me and mouthed, "I'm sorry." I just shrugged, knowing there was nothing he could do.

By the time security came and got us out of there, it was too late to do anything else. We had to be back to the tour bus in 45 minutes, so there wasn't time to finish our date. We sat in the car in silence for a while.

"I'm sorry our date got ruined," Zach said.

"It's not your fault," I said. "I know you didn't mean for it to happen."

"Another perk of being famous. No privacy."

"Zach, it's fine, really. I had a lot of fun this morning."

"It isn't fine. If they were really fans, they'd just leave me alone. I'm so sick of all of this!"

"Zach, calm down. They just wanted to meet you. Wouldn't you do the same thing if you saw one of your favorite celebrities?"

"Not if they were busy."

"Maybe they didn't know you were." He sighed.

"I just wish it was different. It's our last day we get to spend together and they all had to ruin it."

"They didn't ruin the morning."

"But they ruined the afternoon." I sighed, thinking it was hopeless to argue with him any longer. I don't know what has gotten into him, he used to just brush all these things off and act like they didn't bother him. Maybe it just happened too often for him to deal with now.

We arrived back at the hotel and were ushered onto the bus. I didn't know where Zach went, so I sat in the front next to Andrew.

"How'd it go?" he asked.

"The morning was really fun. I guess Zach had this whole thing set up ahead of time, because we didn't have to wait for anything. It was awesome. But then we stopped to eat lunch and we got swarmed by fans."

"Awh, I'm sorry."

"I mean, I'm pretty fine with it. I'd probably do the same thing. And I mean, we still got to enjoy the morning. I think Zach's pretty upset, though."

"Is he?"

"Yeah, he seemed really mad in the car. Something about how he was sick of not having any privacy and how they weren't really fans."

"That's unlike him."

"That's what I said, too. Normally, he doesn't really care. Maybe something's wrong," I said, concerned.

"I wouldn't worry about it. He's probably just mad that they ruined your date. It happens."

"Yeah," I said, unsure. I left the main room and went to my bunk to think it over. I found Zach sitting there.

"Why are you in my bunk?"

"I don't really know," he said. I crawled in next to him and closed the curtain.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah. I think I was just mad because today was like our last day to hang out alone, and then it got ruined. You're not mad, though?"

"No, I'm fine, I promise."

"Good," he said. We sat in silence for a while, but it was comfortable. Eventually, we decided to watch a movie, and we just laid there, enjoying the feeling of being with each other while we could.
