CHAPTER 28

I'm in Love with You

I followed Restless Road down the red carpet, stopping every once in a while to pose for a picture or answer a quick question. We finally made our way to the end and were directed to our seats. Colton sat on the end of the row, followed by Andrew, Zach, and then me. I wondered who I was going to sit next to; there were five seats to the left of me.

I turned to my right and started talking to Zach and Andrew. A few minutes later, Andrew waved to someone behind me. I turned around and was face to face with the five members of One Direction.

Yes, you read that right. One Direction was standing in front of me. Harry walked over and shook hands with all 3 of them.

"You've met him before?" I whispered to Zach, and he nodded. Harry turned to me.

"And you must be Katie," he said, shaking my hand. I nodded. "It's nice to meet you."

"You, too," I said smiling. As soon as he walked away and took his seat at the end of the row, I turned to Zach, slapping him excitedly.

"Oh, my gosh. I just shook hands with Harry Styles."

"Yes, and you're sitting next to Louis Tomlinson," he said.

"Great. Now I can't cry. He's going to think I'm weird," I said. A few minutes later, the movie started. I was able to hold it in for about an hour, but then I just cried. When the credits rolled, I was a mess. It was worse than the book.

"You alright, love?" I heard Louis say.

"I'm good," I said laughing. He smiled.

The next day, I woke up and went to Zach's room. He was still sleeping. I turned on the TV and crawled in next to him.

"Hi," he said, waking up. Oops, didn't mean to do that.

"Hi."

"What are you doing in here?"

"I got bored. So I came in." He sighed and sat up.

"Alright, then. So I was thinking... We haven't been on a date in a while. Let's go do something today."

"Or we could just stay in here and watch movies."

"We can do that tomorrow," he said, smiling. "I already have everything planned. You'll love it."

"Okay," I said, kissing him on the cheek.

A few hours later I was back at Zach's room, but this time I knocked. I was wearing a purple floral skirt with a plain black shirt. He opened the door and we went downstairs to his car.

It was about a 30 minute ride. We spent the whole time singing to all the songs on the radio. He pulled into the parking lot and I looked around. We were at a zoo!

"You like it?" he asked, running over to open my door.

"I love it." We walked into the zoo and Zach grabbed a map.

"Where to first?" he asked. We decided to start with the animals in the arctic, because those were my favorite. They were on the other side of the zoo, so he grabbed my hand and we walked together.

"There's like no one here today," I noticed. "I've only seen a few other families."

"Yeah. It's not necessarily a bad thing, though. It's less likely that we'll get noticed."

We had a blast! We saw so many different animals, and it was really cute when Zach did his best impression of them.

"Okay, that was awesome," I said, giggling as I got back into his car at the end of the day. "Best date ever."

"I am a pretty good date planner," Zach said. I looked at him. "Okay, fine, it was Andrew's idea."

I laughed. "Well, then Andrew is a good date planner. And it's good that he gives his date ideas to you. If that makes sense."

"It makes sense," he said pulling to a stop at the red light. He looked at me and there was something new in his eyes, something I'd never seen before. Was he mad at me? Did I say something that made him upset? Was he happy?

And then he said the six words that I never thought I'd hear again, not after what happened before. But he said them, and he made them sound right.

"Katie, I'm in love with you."
