the meeting

Valkyrie woke up, took a shower, dried her hair, got dressed, grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl and walked out of the house and down the road to the bus station. "One ticket to the city please" she said and the bus driver nodded and handed her a ticket. Then she took a seat and gazed out of her window at the blurred scenery as they drove past houses and fields.

When she arrived in the city she thanked the driver and started walking down the road that would lead to roarhaven. She walked into the town and over to the miserable building also known as the sanctuary and a cradle of magic in Ireland. She walked over to the recipient where tipstaff sat reading off a clipboard. When he heard her approach he looked up and smiled. "Hello Valkyrie are you here for the meeting with the dead men?" He asked. She nodded and he smiled back and led her to the conference room.

When she walked in the first person she saw was skulduggery. He didn't look up as she entered and took a seat. Then the door closed and she heard a lock click. She turned around to see the door locked and only just noticing it was only her and skulduggery in the room. The intercom crackled to life "ok guys. So you are not leaving until you talk this through ok?" Asked ravel. Valkyrie cursed under her breath as she had just walked into a trap. A noise came from over where skulduggery was sitting and she looked up to see him now standing and looking at her. "Val?" He asked quietly. But she just turned her head away. She heard him sigh a breathless sigh seeing as he was a skeleton and didn't need to breath. "What did I do?" He asked as he walked over to her. He sat on the table in front of her chair and waited for her to look at him. When she finally did he took a deep breath and spoke. "Val what did I do? Did I piss you off? Did I say something wrong? Was it when I asked who you liked? Why do you hate me all of a sudden?" He asked. All these questions but the last on hit Valkyrie the hardest. She looked to the floor "I don't hate you" she whispered. "Then what is it?" He asked. At this she stood and turned from him. "If I tell you, you will hate me" Valkyrie replied. "I won't, I promise" he said. "Really?"
"Yes Valkyrie. Just tell me what it is because you're really starting to worry me"
"I can't. You'll hate me for sure"
"No I won't. I promise"
"Fine. Do you remember when I told you I liked someone?" She whispered. Skulduggery nodded and stood up. "What about it?" He asked. "Well I really like this person. I've known him a long while now. A couple of years in fact. Then around three years ago I started having feelings for him and they've just gotten stronger. So I thought if I ignored him for a while these feeling would go away. But it's just made me love him more" she said as tears started to sting her eye's. "What are you trying to say Val?" Asked skulduggery taking a step closer to her. "I'm trying to say that i..." she started but then stepped away while shaking her head. "Say what?" Asked skulduggery. "I love you skulduggery pleasant" she whispered then kicked the door open and bolted down the sanctuary corridor crying.

Skulduggery stood there for a moment and then gave chase after her. "Val! Wait!" He called after her but that only sped her up as she wanted to get as far away as possible as fast as possible. She ran out onto the streets and tried to run down an alley way but she felt arms around her waist and she fell to her knees bawling her eyes out. "Shh" he whispered in her ear. "Let me go! You hate me! Let me go!" She sobbed but he only tightened his grip. "I don't hate you Valkyrie. I've um actually wanted to tell you something myself" he said then hesitated. "What?" Asked Valkyrie as she turned her damp face to meet his eyeless gaze. "Well I've actually liked you a while too" he said and she gasped and spun in his arms and threw her arms around his neck and began to sob again. "I love you skulduggery" she sobbed into the crook of his neck. He placed his boney chin on her shoulder and chuckled. "I love you too Valkyrie" he said and they just sat there for the longest time. Not even caring about the strange looks they were getting from the roarhaven mages.
