trouble and new found power

"Come on Valkyrie! Get back in bed and rest" tanith pleaded. Valkyrie was still very sick but she was trying to get dressed and go back to work. "I'm going to the sanctuary" Valkyrie said weakly but then fell and tanith caught her and kneeled down and just sat there with Valkyrie in her arms shaking. "Val, please stay in bed. You are very ill and need to rest" tanith said and Valkyrie nodded and let tanith tuck her back in the bed.

Valkyrie lay there and looked at the ceiling. She felt terrible but she had to prove to tanith she was ok to go back to work. "Can I go to work now?"
"No"
"Why?"
"Because you are still sick and you need your rest. Please just get better and then you can get back to work"
"Tanith I'm fine"
"Val stop..." Tanith began but then stopped because her phone began to ring.

"Hello?"
"Hey tanith, it's skulduggery"
"Oh hey skulduggery. What's up?"
"You need to come to the sanctuary. Right now"
"Why?"
"She's here!"
"Who is?"
"Darquesse! She's in Val's reflection"
"Oh god..."
"Yeah. We need you here tanith"
"What about Valkyrie?"
"Tell her to stay there or I won't be very happy"
"Ok. Fine. I'll be there in 10!"
"Good... Oh no... RUN!" Skulduggery roared and then the call cut off. "I have to go" said tanith stuffing her phone in her pocket. "What? Why?" Valkyrie asked and sat up slowly. "Darquesse is at the sanctuary. Valkyrie stay here. Skulduggery wants you here safe! Don't you dare move!" Tanith ordered and Valkyrie gasped but nodded with tears in her eyes. "I'm sorry Val" tanith said before rushing out of the room.

Valkyrie lay on her side with her hands by her chest and tears in her eyes. "I can't just lay here and let them die!" She whispered and sat up. She winced and closed her eyes "I'm dying!" She muttered with a small smile and slipped out of the bed and then wobbled. "Damn it" she cursed painfully and walked over to her wardrobe and grabbed the metal handle. But as she came into contact with it a spark appeared and then spread over Valkyries body. It tingled and was warm and it felt like she was magic again. "What the hell?" She asked as she held out her hand. She pushed it out and aimed it at her desk. Suddenly black lightning zapped from her palm and it made a scorch mark on the desk.

"Oh my god!" She said and looked at her hand. Her empty vessel body had finally filled back up. "I can save them" she whispered and dressed as fast as she could and then staggered out of the room and called a cab.
