skulduggery x Valkyrie

something's different

Valkyrie had been acting strangely recently. She was more distant and when she spoke it was nervous, like she was scared of skulduggery finding something out. They were in the car on the way to the sanctuary and Valkyrie hadn't spoken all morning. Skulduggery's grip on the steering wheel tightened as he started to get frustrated with the act. He looked over to her to see her looking out of the window like she hadn't seen these surroundings before. "Why are you acting like this?" He said finally. Valkyrie turned to him and frowned "what do you mean?" She asked slowly. "I mean you are acting really scared around me like you're trying to hide something. You're very jumpy and stuff" he said. Valkyrie looked down at her lap and bit her lip "everything's fine!" She said quickly and laughed awkwardly. "There you go again. You speak nervously" he said and Valkyrie just turned back to the window and didn't answer.

When they got to the sanctuary Valkyrie hopped out of the car and quickly walked through the doors and down to the meeting room. Skulduggery got out the car and followed her. When he got to the meeting Valkyrie was already sat in a seat on her own in the corner. He huffed and sat next to ghastly, who was looking confused. "What's up?" He asked. "Val's acting weird. That's what's up" he answered and then looked up at ravel who had started talking. "Right i have gathered you here today because the English sanctuary called and said that there is a problem. I need some volunteers to go over and check it out" ravel said. No one put their hand up. Ravel put his hands and his hips and sighed "come on guys i need at least two people to go over and help them" he said. Everyone stayed still. "You're all lazy" he said and shook his head.

Dexter put his hand up "i agree with that. I am very lazy" he said. Ravel glared at him "Dexter I'm sending you to England!" He said smugly. Dexter's​jaw dropped open to speak by then he pouted "and Saracen can go with you" ghastly said. Dexter looked a bit happier as he looked over to Saracen who was now pouting. "Fine" Saracen sighed.

After the meeting everyone left except skulduggery, ghastly, ravel and Valkyrie. "Val can i speak with ghastly and ravel alone?" Asked skulduggery. "Yeah whatever" she said and quickly exited the room. "What the hell is up with her?" Asked ravel. "I think it's the reflection" skulduggery said. Ghastly frowned "well we need to be sure. How are you going to find out?" He asked. "Well because the mirror was destroyed the reflection hasn't gotten Val's memories. So she won't have known about the baby. I going to ask about the baby" he said quietly. Ghastly shook his head "you can't do that! What it is Valkyrie? You're just going to upset her" he said. "I know it's risky but i have to do it" skulduggery answered.
