Do you know what love is, child?
Didn't your mother ever teach you?
She ever tell you that it is this wild thing
that cannot be understood
even by those who own it?
It can catch you unawares
even when you are diligent,
and should you try to deny it,
it will make you wish you didn't.
It is strong enough to break the world, child. Powerful like the wind unreconciled,
and treacherous.
People have fought wars for love,
and have died.
It may seem that love is weak sometimes,
like it cannot bear to hold the purest of hearts, seems like it starts out right
and then you're left with
only the remains of a broken heart.
But that is only a part of the story, dear.
Hear me out before you turn your back on love.
There are lessons to learn
before love will let you hold it.
After all you don't let small children
handle glass for a reason, right?
Because for all of the beauty they see
they will still let it smash.
Love only lets you hold it tight
when you have learned that it is
not something taken lightly.
When you learn not to toss it around
and use it wrongly.
Love is a special occasion,
a reason for celebration and
therefore is a rare and beautiful thing.
It can change the world if you let it be itself, not altered or tampered or left on the shelf, love will turn the world on itself and make
it better.
Have hope, my love, that it WILL get better.
I hope this letter finds you in good health
and gives you the strength to
make it through this lesson.
I will promise that there will be more
if you will promise not to give up.
Learning is a beautiful thing,
but it is not painless,
so live and let life make a mess,
take some time to rest,
and let love move mountains in you.
If you let it do that,
you'll move the world.
Love,
SK
