We must prepare.
There are words that need to be said,
things that need to be done,
stories that need to be told,
victories that need to be won.
We have work to do.
Our world is in chaos because of us
and our lack of care.
It is neglect.
A purposeful burying of heads in the sand.
Our inability to address
the needs of the needy at hand.
We champion dominance over compassion;
there is no more love.
Only the words that we think mean the same thing.
No more sacrifice, just charity; this sprinkling of goodness from the betters to those beneath. They are content with their charity because it requires nothing of them.
We think ourselves bold, strong and independent.
Lies, all of them.
But the truth is never allowed to be ignored.
We are scared,
terrified of the world we have created.
Those on top are scared of their power
in hands that are not theirs,
and those below scared of any hand
that has the ability to choke them out of everything.
We all know the problems. The only excuse for ignorance is death; if you're alive you're responsible.
We all know the problems, but do we want the change we cry out for?
I don't know if I do, and from observing everyone else, I'm not sure they do either.
