To be honest,
she thought it would be different.
She was crushed actually.
Everyone had told her that she would feel free.
Would feel like she was able to be anything,
able to do anything.
And she here she was, with the blue sky stretched
as far as the eye could see, clouds clinging to her glorious wings, and all she felt was fear.
No freedom, just a bigger cage.
Her heart held to her ribs for dear life as she flapped her wings to avoid the peril of the drop.
And all at once she was confronted with the feeling that we all get when we get what we want.
We get what we want and don't want it anymore.
Her tears couldn't even stay on her face,
whisked away by the strong wind and hurried pace.
But there was a beauty in it, she supposed.
A certain wildness gone untamed in the skies.
A certain boldness, a courage she found.
A lightness despite the disappointment that could not be found on the ground.
