See Who You Are To Me

It's the yearning, the longing, the loneliness,
that makes us want more.
How we bend toward those who harbor sunlight
in their pores,
How we learn toward the touch of their voice
And blossom beneath their warmth.
It takes time, a slow thaw almost,
In which the life before and a life without
are the same.
Grey, because the here and now
is flooded with color.
A sequence of strangers,
turned friends, turned lovers,
and a life unafraid of living one without the other.
Remember magnets, poles opposite but not unequal, drawn by some force too powerful to defy,
a pull impossible to deny
and nothing else will satisfy the attraction.
Remember water,
how each element must be present ,
must not only be close, but bond.
See how water brings life,
how we cannot do without it.
See how the magnetic pull of the moon
makes the tides of the ocean,
makes the swell of the waves,
brushes the toes of the sea lover,
makes the sea lover smile.
See how something so simple
can bring life to the eyes.
That is my laughter and my peace.
