"What do you mean you're not going to be here for Christmas!"
"I mean exactly what you just said. Melissa's parents rented a cabin up near the mountains and invited us to come." He shrugged, only pissing me off more. "And you just said yes? Are you fucking kidding me?"
"Amanda I really don't see what the big deal is, it's not like you're going to be alone. You have Luke, I figured you'd be cool with this."
"You're right Nick, I do have Luke, but you're my brother, you're my family, I would really like to spend Christmas with you. It's bad enough that Mommy isn't here, now you're leaving too." I felt like crying and screaming all at once. I was livid and upset and felt like I was going to explode. "I promise, we'll have our own Christmas when we get back." He reassured and I laughed, sarcasm laced throughout it. "And when will that be?"
"New Years Eve."
"I won't even be here! I'll be in Australia for Emily's wedding and you know that!" I yelled as I sat down on the couch roughly. Man am I happy that Luke is out with Calum right now. He wouldn't even begin to know how to handle this situation. "When do you even leave?" I asked. "The 23rd." He mumbled, scratching the back of his neck. "Alright bye." I said, getting up from my seat and walking towards the front door. "Where are you going?" He questioned, following me.
"Away from you, thanks for ruining Christmas."

That was a week ago. It is now Christmas day and I have been awake all fucking night. I couldn't sleep because all I could think about was how Christmas was ruined.
Christmas is about family, and mine isn't even here.
"Good morning sweetheart," Luke yawned. "Merry Christmas." He smiled, sitting up and kissing my shoulder. I sighed and folded my arms over my chest. "Yeah, Merry Christmas." I mumbled. "Sweetie you can't stay mad forever." He stated, wrapping an arm around me. "I'm not mad anymore, I'm just upset. Christmas isn't the same without my family here."
"How do you think I feel? I'm away from my family all the time, but I don't get so upset about it anymore because I have you, and you are my family."
"And you're my family too Luke, but I don't know, this is my first Christmas without both my mom and my brother. It's gonna take a bit for me to get used to." I said, cuddling into his side. "I know, and I swear, I'm gonna do my best to make this a great Christmas for you."
"How are you gonna do that?" I asked and he grinned. "I got a few tricks up my sleeve baby, don't you worry. Today is going to be a good day, I promise."

"Luke, how many times to I have to tell you, don't buy me expensive gifts!" I groaned, tearing the wrapping paper off of the laptop box. "It doesn't matter how many times you tell me, because I'm still going to spoil you either way. You're my girl, you deserve the whole world and more." He said and I blushed. "You didn't have to buy me a new laptop though, mine worked fine."
"Amanda don't be ridiculous, your laptop was almost completely burnt out, the least I could do was get you a new one."
"But-"
"No but's! Unless it's your butt." He smirked and I rolled my eyes. "Fine," I huffed, putting the box down. I sat up on my knees and pecked his lips. "Thank you, I love it." I mumbled. "You're welcome sweetheart."
"Okay now open your last present." I said, turning around and grabbing the last wrapped gift that was under our small tree. He took it out of my hands and looked at it skeptically. "Why is it heavy?" He asked and I shrugged. "Open it and find out."
