Her fingers twitched and her mind raced. Her idea seemed so amazing over 20 hours ago, before she got on this life changing flight. Her feet nearly gave way when she climbed out of the aeroplane after the mind-numbing slow ride to America. This was probably, hands-down, the most stupid, irrational decision she had ever made; well, except maybe that one time... Not the point! Her feet dragged her to the luggage pick up, her body dragging a moment behind. Thousands among thousands of people buzzed, and she was quite buzz-y herself. She grabbed her phone and searched through the contacts quickly. The voice she had come to love answered almost immediately. She muttered nervously, "Babe, I'm... uh, I'm at the airport..." On the other side of the phone, you could almost hear a pin drop. "Where you flyin' to?" He asked. Her fingers gripped the phone a little harder. "I just arrived, at, um-" her nervous stutters were rudely interrupted."That's great! But hey, look, I'm kinda busy at the moment, so, yeah, come back some other time, I guess." She pulled the phone away from her ear in horror and disgust. Come back another time? Come back a-fucking-nother time!? Her bag dropped from her rough grip and her knees gave way. She dramatically fell to the ground; tears already flowing from her eyes. All her savings were put into this, all her courage, her everything - just to see the man she loved, and who had supposedly loved her right back. Her heart was always worn so proudly on her skin was shrinking back and shattering into a million pieces. This isn't how she imagined it, this isn't how she dreamt it. This was a pile of shit, and she blamed herself, for fooling herself into this false sense of hope. She only deserved the worst for loving the best, right.
