The sound of the soft rain tapping on the old window kept her mind from wandering. Her phone's music fell silent as the battery slipped to nothing. She squirmed under her bed's heavy duvet covers and crushed her face into the soft pillow. Maybe the sound of the growing storm couldn't keep her from her emotional horrors. The wind whipped around outside - the fence creaking on impact - she whimpered as the first few tears began to slip out of her broken, pain-filled, doe-like eyes. The shivers that ran through her spine weren't just from the cold, but from the erupting emotional pain that she couldn't seem to run from.
