Chapter Eight: Training

••Peeta's POV••

I've got to say that today was the best day of my life. I told Katniss I loved her and she kissed me. Katniss Everdeen, the girl who I never thought I could have, kissed me. Then we became a couple. After eleven years crushing on her, she is finally mine.

The only downside to this is that we had to become a couple this way, by going into the games. I can't hurt Katniss and I don't want to hurt her by getting hurt, I could see the hurt I her eyes when she touched my eye. I don't like that look. I get a text message. I take out my phone. It's from Katniss.

Katniss💘: Meet me @ my house in 10💕.

Me: Be right there😘.

I take off my Hyperfuses and trade them in for my Nike Air Maxs. I grab a cookie and run out the door and doen the street towards Katniss's house.

••Katniss's POV••

Oh my God Peeta is coming over! What should I wear? I only have sporty clothes. Shit! "Katniss, calm yourself." I mutter to myself,"You're going to train and it doesn't matter if you look good."

I hear a knock at the door. Peeta! I run down stairs and open the door to a sweating and panting Peeta. "God Peeta, did you run here?"

"Yeah...I...Thought....I should...get ready...you..know...for the...games..."Peeta says between breaths, as he comes inside.

I bring him up to my room and I wait for him to catch his breath. When he does, I kiss him, thank God no one's home. The kiss automatically turns french. I am hungry for more. When, I start to take off his shirt he pulls away. "Katniss, I don't think now's a good time." Peeta says and I know he's right.

"Yeah, I'm sorry." I sit down on my bed and look down at my feet.

Peeta sits down next to me and uses his hand to lift up my chin and I look into his beautiful ocean blue eyes. "It's not your fault. Today is Friday and the Games are Monday. We have to train if we want to win." He says.

"Peeta, there's only one winner." I say.

"I know, but if we show him that he doesn't own us, that we're more than just a piece in his games, maybe we can win."

"Okay we can try." I say.

"Great! What should we do first?"Peeta asks.

"Let's go to the archery range. I can teach you how to shoot." I answer

"Okay. Lets go." Peeta says as he gets up.
