If ever there is a "best enemy" then it would be Mason and Sophie. They bicker and fight and were known to do crazy things to each other. There was the lizard in Sophie's rubber shoes when they changed into their PE uniforms in third grade. Sophie punched Mason that time and everyone was laughing at them uproariously.
In fourth grade, Sophie placed roaches in Mason's bed when she slept over at Yasmin's house. Mason yelled in alarm and woke everyone. Yasmin and Sophie rushed to his room and found him jumping in his bed. Sophie doubled over in laughter and took a picture of him and posted it to twitter.
There were also the snails in Mason's bag in fifth grade that stuck in his Math notebook when he handed his homework. Their teacher was so surprised that she slapped the notebook and the snail flew into Sophie's mouth who was laughing during that time. Mason gleefully shouted when this happened earning a glare from his teacher.
Yes, it was known all throughout the school that Sophie and Mason are bent on killing each other. However, it was also known in school that you couldn't approach Sophie without getting a glare from Mason and that Sophie always watches Mason's games while Mason watches Sophie's Quiz Bees. It was also a known fact that no one could bully Sophie. There was that time that Zio, the class bully cornered Sophie asking for her allowance. Mason saw this and was so angry that it took 5 classmates to pull him away from Zio. Yasmin was pondering on this when she saw Sophie anxiously looking at her bag.
"What are you looking at?" Yasmin asked.
"I think there's something hairy inside my bag?" Sophie said worriedly. She placed her hand inside her bag and shouted when something crawled. She saw spiders when she pulled out her hand. She screamed and jumped which drew everyone's attention. It was during that time that Mason started laughing. Enraged, Sophie stalked towards him and punched him in his face.
"MASON and SOPHIE! Get out of the class. You will BOTH get detention for this!" Mr. Alex, their Science teacher bellowed.
Sophie and Mason glared at each other and left the classroom.
