The next day, Mason was faced with a wall Sophie built between them. She avoided him during classes and only spoke in monosyllables when he tried talking to her. She didn't join them during lunch and he saw her with Jason the whole time. He was getting desperate especially now that the prom was nearing on Friday. People were also looking at him oddly and some of his team mates were congratulating him and it was getting weirder as the day was ending. He was at a loss so he decided to look for Chris and cornered him at the locker room before their basketball practice.

"Hey, Chris! Can I talk to you for a second?"

Chris looked at him guiltily and nodded his head since he began to suspect that Mason had no idea why their classmates were talking about him. Mason had no social media account since he felt that it was a waste of time. He probably had no idea that Marissa had uploaded a picture of them in bed on Twitter and Facebook.

"Umm, sure Mace." He answered uncomfortably since he didn't want to be the one breaking the news to him.

Mason looked at him, a little bit embarrassed, "I noticed that people are looking at me strangely and I don't know why. Some of the guys are even congratulating me and I have no idea. Can you help me out since I'm f*cking irritated with all the odd glances and smiles?" Mason said raising his voice in frustration and running his hands through his hair, tousling it even further.

Chris sighed and took out his phone in his pocket and started opening his twitter account. "Mace, I didn't want to be the one to tell you this but you should start checking out social media. I don't know what happened between you and Marissa when we left the room but this picture in twitter is kind of damning." He finally found the picture and reluctantly showed his phone to Mason who was looking at him in confusion. "Here, check out your picture."

Mason's eyes widened in surprise and then narrowed in disgust at the picture of him and Marissa. Marissa has covered half of her body with a blanket but her back was left uncovered and it was obvious that she wasn't wearing anything in that picture while lying on Mason's naked chest. Mason's head was turned on the side so people can only see his tousled hair and half of his face and would not know if he was awake or asleep.

"F*ck, what is wrong with her! Sh*t I don't even remember her last night. This is so f*cking wrong!" He shouted in anger. "I'm going to kill her!"

Chris looked at him in alarm seeing Mason seething in rage and was afraid at what he will do. "Just calm down Mason. You can talk to her after our practice."

Mason just glared at him and stalked outside going to where the cheerleaders were practicing at the field. His eyes narrowed when he saw Marissa. He walked stiffly towards them and tried to calm his raging temper. He was beginning to hate Marissa with a virulent passion that he was afraid that he might do something he will regret. Marissa saw him approaching and was smiling at him but her smile fell when she saw his expression of rage.

"I suggest you leave your practice or I will drag you out of here." Mason said bitingly while clenching and unclenching his fists. Marissa's eyes narrowed at him but she stepped back at the rage she saw in his face. She bid her team goodbye and followed Mace who was walking towards the trees at the edge of the field. He suddenly stopped upon reaching the trees and Marissa bumped into him. He turned towards her in revulsion and angrily removed her hands.

"Don't you f*cking touch me?" he burst in anger. Marissa was looking at him warily and tried to smile and flirt with him. "Mace, what's wrong?" she asked innocently.

"Are you really asking me that question? What the hell is wrong with you? Why do you have to upload that picture? Don't you have any decency left? God, that was so pathetic!" he said scathingly and looked at her contemptuously.

Marissa was scared as she saw how angry Mason was and so decided to placate him, "It was just a picture Mason. I mean what's wrong with that? We're going to the prom together anyway."

"Just a picture? God, how crazy could you be? You were freaking naked! Why do you have to broadcast it to the whole world? Don't you have any respect for yourself?!"

"Jesus, Mason. Are you some freaking virgin? It was just my back and your chest and we slept together anyway." Marissa replied mockingly.

Mason reddened at her words and looked at her disdainfully, "We DID NOT sleep together. I was asleep and I don't even remember being with you. Oh, and by the way, you should start looking for another partner because I AM NOT GOING with you to the prom!" he shouted and angrily walked away.

"Ha! And you say I'm pathetic! You should try looking in the mirror Mace, you're the pathetic one, panting after Sophie. She is NOT going with you. Why would she when she has JASON!" Marissa sneered. Mason just stopped and glared at her and continued towards the gym but the words she said echoed in his head even during their basketball practice. He was so distracted and kept on looking at the bleachers expecting to see Sophie's dark hair, reading or doing her assignment while waiting for him. She never did appear and it hurt. A lot. He felt as though a part of him is missing and he couldn't concentrate on the game.

Coach Alex asked him to leave early to clear his head as he kept on missing his shots and passes. He took a shower and drove home. He was so agitated that he decided to stop at the park to calm down. He sat down on one of the benches when he heard someone laugh. The voice was so familiar so he turned his head and he saw Sophie laughing and running. His eyes narrowed when he saw Jason running after Sophie.

"God, had he really lost her?"
