The ride to Sophie's house was a silent one. Sophie was just looking out at the window suddenly feeling very tired and Jason let her rest. Somehow knowing that this what she wanted. He opened the car door when they arrived at her house and helped Sophie open their door. She was glad that her parents had fallen asleep.
"Thank you Jason. I'm sorry for the waterworks." she mentioned sheepishly.
"No need to apologize. I should be the one apologizing for leaving you on your own during prom. Let me make up with you next Friday. Please go out with me and I promise you will have a good time." he implored, smiling sincerely at her.
"Ok." she replied shyly then stood on tiptoe and hugged him. "Thank you for comforting me."
Jason smiled and hugged her back kissing her hair and loving how fragrant it smells.
"Goodnight Sophie."
"Good night Jason. Please take care." Sophie waved as Jason drove away. She went upstairs to her room and made sure she was quiet so as not to wake her parents. She opened her door and quickly closed it and almost screamed when she saw someone sitting on her bed.
"Sshhh G, it's just me." Mason said, putting his hands on her mouth to stop her from making a noise.
"What the hell Mace?!"
"I'm sorry for scaring you G. I swear that was not my intention." he said raising his hands in surrender.
"What are you doing here?"
"Well....ummm..."
"Yes?"
"Ok, you told me you're scared that my love isn't real." Mason said softly, " so I wanted to prove to you that it is real.....will you go out with me tonight G?"
"Are you crazy? It's 3am!"
"I made dinner..ummm or most probably breakfast." he replied proudly showing her a picnic basket. "C'mon G, it's just at the park. Please?"
Sophie sighed exaggeratedly but couldn't resist his pleading. "Ok, fine but please be quiet. How did you get up here?"
"Geez, Sophie, your mom gave me a spare key, remember? I'm family." he said, winking at her.
"Yeah, that's correct, you're like my brother." she replied smirking at him.
Mason winced at that. "Nope. I'm like your boyfriend so definitely not a brother." he replied, teasing her.
Sophie raised her eyebrows and stuck out her tongue childishly.
"Well, that was real mature of you Genius!" Mason said taking out his cellphone and snapping a picture of her.
Sophie's eyes widened at what he did and grabbed his cellphone, running outside. Mason ran after her but was hampered by the large picnic basket. Sophie hid behind a tree and checked Mason's phone. Her eyes widened when she saw his wallpaper. It was a picture of the two of them after one of his game. He had his arms around her and they were both smiling since they won.
"Give it back, G." Mason said when he spotted her.
"No. Not until I erase my picture. What's your password?"
"I won't tell you."
"Fine, it's probably your birthday." she replied and keyed in the number. She smiled widely when the phone was unlocked. She was able to delete her picture before Mason snatched his phone back."
"That was a nice picture." he said pouting at her.
"Too bad, it has been deleted." she replied laughing at his expression. "Aren't we leaving?"
