Sophie was waiting with Yasmin for Mason since her mom could not pick her up after school and her car was due for maintenance. Yasmin insisted that they should go home together. Unfortunately, that meant riding in Mason's car. They were waiting for the basketball varsity's practice to end when they heard a group of girls approach the benches.

"Mason is so dreamy. I just love his hair and those beautiful brown eyes." Jenny, one of the girls exclaimed.

"Don't forget that toned body. I bet he could carry me easily." Candy said sighing.

"He certainly is the most handsome guy in this school. He even looks better than Chris Hemsworth!" Jenny agreed.

Sophie looked at the girls and snorted. Yasmin looked at her warningly but the girls heard her and looked at her glaringly.

"You know Sophie, you should stop torturing Mason. We all know that you're the smartest student but what you are doing is truly stupid!" Jenny said passionately.

"Excuse me, I'm not torturing him! He usually starts our fight." Sophie replied.

"That is so not true. Mason is a gentleman and has always been nice to girls and never picks up a fight. Well obviously except you since you seem to always make him angry. Oh well, you don't know how to appreciate him. It's quite a wonder why he tolerates you and even watches your nerdy contests!" Jenny replied angrily.

"Why, you!" Sophie began to stand angrily but Yasmin pulled her to the opposite direction.

"C'mon Sophie, not again. You know they are Mason's fans so just leave them be." Yasmin said warningly.

Mason was jogging towards them and heard what Yasmin said and smirked.

"Are you jealous Sophie? You know I can make time for you." He said smugly.

"No freaking way. Oh please, I'd rather read than have a conversation with you." She retorted.

"Children, behave!" Yasmin said exasperatingly. "Let's just go home please."

It was just then that Marissa, the prettiest girl in the class approached them.

"Hi Mason!" Marissa said smiling.

"Oh, hi Marissa!" Mason replied looking at her inquiringly.

"Can I talk to you for a second?" She asked softly looking at Yasmin and Sophie pointedly.

Sophie was glaring at her but Yasmin pulled her to the other side.

"You know Mason that the JS prom will be 3 weeks from now, right? Anyway, it's the girl's time to ask this time around and I was wondering if we could go together." Marissa said flirtatiously.

Mason inwardly groaned. A lot of girls has been approaching him and it took supreme effort to avoid them and or say no to their proposal. He was also getting furious at Sophie since she seem to forget that she should be asking him. She doesn't even to know that it's the other way around.

"So what do you think? You can pick me up by 7?" Marissa said enticingly.

"I should just say yes." Mason thought. "It will probably serve Sophie right for not asking him. Heck, all his friends have dates and have teased him mercilessly."

"Oh ok Marissa." Mason said uncertainly.

"Great!" Marissa said triumphantly and impulsively kissed his cheek and walked away.

Sophie was looking at Mason and Marissa angrily. Her eyes widened when she saw Marissa kissed Mason. She immediately walked towards Mason, huffing furiously.

"What was that?!" She exclaimed angrily.

"What are you angry about?" Mason exclaimed annoyingly. "Marissa just asked me to the Prom and I said Yes."

Sophie looked at him shocked and hurt. She had wanted to asked him but he had been so irritating lately so she didn't. She knew they had been enemies but they were always together. Somehow she felt betrayed and her chest tightened at the thought of Marissa and Mason. She didn't dwell on this and turned back and grabbed Yasmin.

"Let's just go home." She said softly not looking at Mason. Not even thinking why she wanted to just lay down in bed and cry.

Mason looked at Sophie guiltily and somehow the thought of going with Marissa seem so wrong.

"Who are you going with Sophie?" He asked when they were inside the car.

"None of your business!" She replied mutinously.

"You're probably such a coward to ask someone!" He said goading her.

"Whatever?! I'm thinking of asking Jason anyway." She said to spite him.

"Jason?! The football player! Are you crazy? He is such a playboy. Wasn't he the one panting after you since you're the only girl he didn't date?!" Mason said shocked.

"What do you care? You're going with Marissa, the girl who changes boyfriends the way she changes clothes. Oh just shut up Mason!" She said and looked angrily at the window.

"Fine! Do what you want!" Mason replied angrily.

Yasmin looked at them back and forth and sighed inwardly. She honestly thought that the Mason and Sophie should just admit that they love each other. It had been painstakingly obvious watching them fight then make up then fight like old couples. Even their parents were laughing at their antics and had stared at each other knowingly.

Sophie and Mason was so stupid to not even realize it. She smiled when she saw Mason peek at the rearview mirror checking Sophie. He always does this when they fight. He glanced back at the road when Sophie turned to him.

They rode the car in silence until they reached Sophie's house. She hastily said goodbye to Yasmin and got out of the car and ran inside the house without saying anything to Mason.

"I hope you're happy with Marissa during the prom Mason. Maybe you will even see Sophie and Jason together." Yasmin said sarcastically.

Mason flinched and looked at Sophie's house longingly. She didn't even glance at him.
