Yasmin was waiting outside their door when Sophie arrived. She waved at her and hurriedly grabbed her bag and ran towards the car.
"Hi Sophie! Good morning! Thanks for picking me up." Yasmin said smiling.
"Good morning Yas." Sophie replied.
"Oh, where's your glasses and are you wearing make up?" Yasmin asked wonderingly.
"Mom bought me contacts and yes I'm wearing a bit of mascara." she replied.
"You look really nice. Your eyelashes are perfect. I would have a crush on you if I was a guy." Yasmin exclaimed.
"Aww, thanks Yas. You only say that coz you're my bestfriend." Sophie replied, blushing.
"So what's the occasion? Are you going to show Mace that you're prettier than Marissa?" Yasmin teased.
"Of course not! I just wanted to dress a bit. Umm, by the way I'm going to the prom with Jason." Sophie said not looking at Yasmin.
"What? Did you really ask him? C'mon Sophie, Mace will be furious!" Yasmin said in dismay.
"I don't care! I'm also going out with Jason later!" she said mutinously.
"Oh hell, Sophie. You're going out, as in a "Date" with Jason?" Yasmin asked, surprised.
"What's wrong with that? Jason is nice. I used to teach him Math and he's not so bad. You had a crush on him." Sophie replied defensively.
"Well most of the girls have crushes on either on him or Mace. The only difference is that Jason has gone out with most of the girls. He is such a playboy. I mean he looks a lot like a movie star but he gets bored easily with his girlfriends. No offense to him but Mason is a saint compared to Jason." Yasmin explained.
"Mace is nice to all girls except me. He has been playing pranks at me since second grade." Sophie clarified.
"I know but he had also been protective of you. Girls like him but he only goes with you. I mean remember the time when you had the flu last year. He insisted that he should stay with you since your parents were away. He never cooks but he made you soup and insisted you eat." Yasmin mentioned.
"He didn't insist. He said he will shove the soup in my throat if I don't eat. That was certainly sweet of him." Sophie said sarcastically.
"C'mon Sophie, that's just being him. He didn't join practice and didn't get any sleep because he was taking care of you. My mom was laughing when he called in the middle of the night because he was panicking since your temperature was not going down and you were mad at him." Yasmin clarified.
"Well, he was so funny during that time. Taking my temperature every minute that I wanted to shove the thermometer in his throat." Sophie said smiling.
She also remembered the way his hair was deliciously tousled and the way his brown eyes darkened when he gazed at her, placing his warm hand in her forehead to check her temperature. She had to admit that he really was handsome. She has butterflies in her stomach just thinking how warm he was then and how soft his lips looked like.
"Why are you blushing? Did something happen during that time" Yasmin asked smirking.
"Nothing happened. I admit he was kind of sweet but he can be so exasperating." she said, parking the car.
They both grabbed their bags and got out of the car and walked to the classroom.
"Yas, do you mind if I sit near Jason today? He said he wanted to ask me about some of our subjects." Sophie asked.
"Really? That's just a line Sophie but I'm ok with it. I'll sit beside Chris. I am so looking forward on what Mason will do." Yasmin said, laughing as they arrived in the class.
