Never Date a Genius

Chapter 10

Mason was groaning when they finally arrived at the school clinic. Sophie immediately explained to the nurse that Mason was having a migraine and was brought to a bed.

"Here, take some pain reliever." The nurse said handing Mason a tablet and a glass of water.

"Let me call your parents so they can pick you up." The nurse added grabbing her phone.

"No need Ms. Joan. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor are out of the country but I can take Mason home. We only have 1 class left and I would truly appreciate if you could write us an excuse note." Sophie asked.

"Ok Sophie. I'll write you a note and give you some pain reliever. You can give it to him after 4 hours. Make sure the lights are closed so as not to aggravate his migraine." The nurse said writing the note.

Sophie remembered that they just left Yasmin so she texted her telling her that she'll bring Mason home and if she could just drive Mason's car. She also texted Jason and apologized that she can't go to their date later.

She went to Mason after getting their note.

"Umm, Mace let's go."she softly whispered, nudging him. Mason groaned and reluctantly followed her to the car. Sophie pushed back the car seat to make him more comfortable.

She silently drove to Mason's house and parked at their driveway.

"Mace where are your house keys?"she asked.

"Left pocket." He muttered groaning then raising his hands to shield his eyes.

Sophie leaned towards him to search his pockets but froze when their eyes met. His eyes darkened and suddenly she felt the heat of his body and smelled the musky scent of his cologne.
Her blood sizzled and she felt as if she was burning in the depths of his brown eyes. He was so handsome even with his hair tousled. His eyes dropped to her lips and suddenly she felt heat traveling through her body and leaned closer seeking him to help assuage whatever was happening to her.

Mason groaned no longer in pain. How can Sophie have such soft lips and such wonderful black eyes covered with those long sooty eyelashes? How did she become so beautiful? He felt as though he was gazing into the eyes of a temptress. He smelled her light perfume and felt the softness of her body as she leaned forward. He reached forward and touched her smooth cheeks.

"Have you any idea how beautiful you are?" He said softly leaning forward. Just then, a car honked and they drew guiltily a away.

"Ummm, I need your house keys Mace?" Sophie said self-consciously and rubbing her suddenly sweaty hands in her dress.

Mason searched his pockets and gave it to Sophie.

"Wait for me. I'll open the doors first." Sophie said and immediately jumped out of the car.

"Breath, Sophie. It's just Mason." she muttered trying to regain her composure. She kept dropping the keys since her hands were shaking. She finally managed to open the door after three tries. She went back to get Mason and almost freaked out when she collided with his back.

"Ouch Sophie!" He complained.

"You scared me Mace! I thought you were still in the car." She exclaimed.

"I want to lie down. I already locked your car. Let's go inside." He said simply and grabbed her hand as they went inside.

Sophie closed the door and accompanied him inside his room where he immediately laid down. She closed the drapes to keep the sunlight out and was about to leave when Mason grabbed her hand.

"Don't go. Stay with me." He pleaded then pulled her and she stumbled into his bed.

"Okay." She said unsure but proceeded in removing her shoes and laid beside him.

"Your hair smells nice." He murmured placing his head on her shoulders hugging her back and slowly drifted to sleep.

Sophie stiffened then relaxed as she felt Mason close his eyes. She should probably get up but she felt safe and warm cocooned in Mason's embrace that her eyes also drifted to sleep.

Yasmin arrived at their house and was wondering where Mason and Sophie were so she went up. She softly knocked at Mason's room and decided to peek inside when no one answered. Her eyes widened when she saw Mason and Sophie contentedly asleep in each others arms. She smiled and softly closed the door and called Sophie's parents to inform them that Sophie is sleeping over.
