I love Lucas so much!

Dawn's P.O.V

The next morning was dreadful, parts of the nightmare, those images and noises clung to my head making me sick, it took all my strength to pull away from my brother's arms in the morning, for when I was in Braden's arms I was in my safe heaven.

I got up placing some high waisted black jeans, a white top, some ratty old converse and grabbed my brother's sweatshirt before I headed downstairs.

"Morning." I said softly as I grabbed my dad's mug drinking some of his dark rich coffee.

"Are you okay princess?" My dad asked me, his gaze studying me.

I nodded slowly.

"I'm just peachy, I don't want to go to school today." I said, looking around at the quiet kitchen, my mum had already left with the triplets so it was just Braden, dad and me.

"Be good alright? I don't want you to get in any more trouble." My dad said as Braden came from the hallway and gestured me that it was time to go.

"I won't promise anything." I told my dad before I gave him a kiss on the cheek giving him back his coffee and headed outside.

Braden didn't say a word as I sat in the front seat in complete silence and hugged my knees closer to my chest leaning against them, just making me as small as possible. He drove in complete silence, occasionally he would look at me but didn't say anything until we got to the Academy's parking lot.

"Are you sure you'll be fine?" Braden asked me as I opened my eyes meeting his worried gaze.

"I'll be okay, I'll just force a smile and pretend that everything's okay." I said with a dry chuckle, that was pretty much what I did every single day so it wouldn't be that hard.

"I hate seeing you like this Dawn, I wish I could take all the pain away." Braden said as he looked at me sadly.

I gave a sight.

"But we both know nothing can ever take away my pain." I said blinking away my tears before I stepped out of his truck.

I walked towards the main entrance, Braden close to me. As we got to the entrance I noticed Harmony and Lucas getting off the bus, they were both in deep conversation, Lucas must've said something funny because Harmony threw her head back laughing.

"Not a nice sight, is it?" Braden whispered in my ear, and I knew that the only reason why Braden didn't torn Lucas away from Harmony was because he knew Lucas was my mate and Harmony was oblivious to the werewolf world.

While I remained in silence I couldn't have agreed more, despite everything that had happened yesterday I didn't like the way Harmony had cozied up to Lucas so quickly as if they were best friends, he was completely rude yet with Harmony he was a complete charmer.

"Hey guys, you've met Lucas?" Harmony said with a smile as they got closer and looked at us.

Harmony and Braden stood in front of eat other and shared a knowing look, I smiled at this.

So, Braden had lied last night, he hadn't just talked with Harmony, by the way she was blushing and Braden smiled I could tell that something had happened between them.

"I can say that we have, unfortunately." I said as I slightly glared at Lucas, he smirked in response.

Harmony cleared her throat.

"Well, I have to head off to class, I'll see you guys later." Harmony said as she excused herself and walked away with my brother joining her, she had probably sense the tension between Lucas and me.

Once alone Lucas stepped closer to me and my breath hitched as his scent became stronger sending my wolf into a frenzy. Yet I looked at him shocked, what the hell was he doing?

"Lighten up, give me a smile, it's way too early to be in such a sour mood, sweet cheeks." Lucas said and in that moment, I swear I wanted to murder him.

"Just stay away from me." I said with a glare as I started to walk away from him, I needed to stay as far as possible from Lucas.

"You see I really can't do that, you and I go to school together and something tells me that you and I will be seeing each other a lot, sweet cheeks." Lucas said to my annoyance.

And unfortunately, he was right, not only did we share every single class but Lucas was everywhere, even in lunch as I sat next to my brother Lucas had join us per my brother's request as Harmony wouldn't have join us without him.

And after school as I made my way out I found Mia talking to Lucas, they immediately stopped as they saw me there.

"Well I'll see you tomorrow Lucas." Mia said with a smile before she glared at me and walked away.

"What the hell was that? Mia talks to you?" I told him once we were alone.

"Yeah, she's a friend of mine." Lucas said with a simple shrug.

I looked at him shocked, had he just said that?

"Mia, a friend? So, she talks to you and doesn't call you names or bullies you? That's a first." I said in complete disbelief.

Lucas looked at me confused before he smirked.

"What can I say? I have charm." Lucas said with a wink.

It was official, I hated Lucas Boyette.

By the end of the day I was exhausted, after school I had dance class and then I headed straight to the café where I started my first day as a barista, it was so hard and frustrating that when I got home my head was pounding and my feet were killing me.

As I entered the dining room I noticed that my mum was serving the food for all my brothers were already seated, it seemed like that they had been waiting on my dad and I, but I didn't ask for that instead I noticed how my mum had an almost empty glass of wine in her hands.

Now this was off because my mum being the person she was she preferred a cup of coffee or of hot tea over a glass of wine.

"Good you're here honey, come join us for dinner." My mom told me and I nodded, I sat between Hunter and Alex.

"Aren't we going to wait for dad?" I asked her, we always had dinner together as a family, no exceptions.

My mom frowned before she spoke.

"Actually, your dad won't be joining us for dinner tonight." My mum said to our surprise.

And that was a first, in my eighteen years never had my dad missed a dinner with us if he was here.

"But we need to talk to him." Damien said, Hunter and Alex nodded in agreement.

"I guess we'll have to wait until the morning." Hunter said as my mum sat down giving a sigh.

"Your father is actually away on a business trip so you won't see him around for a couple of days." My mom told us.

"He left without telling us?" I said shocked, honestly, I was hurt, for my dad always said goodbye to me before he left for a trip even if he was just going to be gone for a day.

"That's weird." Braden said frowning and I nodded in agreement, something was off here.

"That's so unlike him, is everything okay?" I said, I didn't believe him.

My mom took a deep breath before she poured more wine into her glass.

"Honestly, at this point I don't know what goes through your father's head these days." My mum said in a tired voice as her expression clouded.
