The first days of classes were going smoothly, though boringly, for Tigris. The battle tactics class was decent when battle tactics were actually discussed. Most of the time the instructed bragged about his "countless" exploits. More than half the class didn't listen and if talk amongst the students was true you could say the same about most of the school. Didn't help that the instructor was oblivious to the fact and rambled on regardless.

In fact, Ruby had a tendency to play around a little in class and had even fallen asleep a time or two. This was annoying Weiss who already felt their team captain had been the wrong choice. She had even asked if she could trade teams and had promised a large donation from her family. This had failed and so she had chosen to prove herself to be the better choice through her studies and had been a very diligent student.

Another diligent student was Rose. Though Tigris didn't think it was because she didn't agree with their captain. With Rose she was truly interested in what the instructor had to say. The way her eyes sparkled you'd think she was a little kid instead of a fifteen year old girl. Tigris had had more interesting fights when she was ten. But she wasn't going to be telling anyone about those.

"And who among you think that you are the embodiment of these traits?" The instructor asked. Tigris had no idea what traits he was talking about.

"I do sir!" "David is perfect!" Weiss and Iris shouted at the same time. Though she didn't think Iris had been paying attention. Drool wasn't normally a sign of listening.

"Seeing as young David is away to the restroom we shall have Miss Schnee step forward." Tigris had no idea David had left the class. Maybe she really should pay more attention. Weiss stepped down to the floor weapon at hand.

Weiss' team cheers her on but when Ruby spoke up Weiss became angry at her. It was obvious that Weiss was down there to prove something. But with how much frustration she had there was no way she was going to have a smooth battle. Her emotions were to out of control.

"Prepare to face your opponent!" The instructor shouted as a cage rolled out bearing a boarbatusk. "Let the match begin!" He used his battleaxe to cut the lock off releasing the beast.

The boarbatusk charged forward the moment the gate opened. Parrying the charge Weiss rolled to the side returning to her stance. The instructor made a comment but Tigris had already tuned him out. Ruby called out in support and Tigris saw Weiss grit her teeth as she decided to charge the now charging Grimm. Bad idea.

Before Weiss' blade could take one of its eyes the boarbatusk swung it's head catch her sword and locking it in its tusks. If Weiss had been calm she would have realized it would be better to continue dodging instead of taking it head on. A Grimm that young had yet to grow armor to protect all its weakness. It's belly for example.

As Weiss struggled the instructor made another dumb comment and Ruby tried to cheer her on. The moment Ruby spoke Weiss turned her eyes away from her opponent giving an opening. Wrenching and throwing her sword the boarbatusk knocked her off her feet.

"Oho! What will you do without your weapon!" The instructor finally made an intelligent remark. It was a good question. What would Weiss do without her sword. Recovering from being knocked down Weiss managed to move out of the way in time as the boarbatusk charged at her. Missing her the Grimm ran into one of the desks falling over onto its back. Given a moment of relief Weiss ran to where her sword had fallen.

"Go for the belly! It doesn't have any armor there!" Ruby suggested.

"Stop telling me what to do!" Weiss snapped and Tigris could see it hurt Ruby's feelings.

The boarbatusk charged forward with a rolling attack making its belly impossible to hit without stopping it's momentum. As it sped towards Weiss she created a blue glyph which stopped the monster knocking it on its back. Seeing the opening she created a second glyph, this one black, above her. She jumped up and her feet were drawn to it. It then changed into a blue color and she launched forward thrusting her sword deep in the boarbatusk's belly.
