"To be the best, you must be able to face the worst."
-the pink queen-

Summary: Macgyver never goes into detail on his time overseas. Is this because one soldier impacted him greatly?

Warnings: None.

"Men fall back out!" The terrorist yelled in a different language I picked up years ago.
"Their falling back! Good job, boys. Look for any shipments they left." I ordered and we marched on.
Nick looked over at me. "You okay captain?"
I nodded though even that made me dizzy. We had been on the move for two weeks on tracking one of the leading drug rings there are. The boys and I haven't had much to eat and I gave most of mine to the others shaking it off as a stomach ache. That's what I told them at least.
I knew the real reason. I had anorexia. No, it wasn't because I thought I was fat or anything. Staying in the army keeps me in shape. It was because i had been tortured for a year and 4 months. In that time they barely fed me and it took forever for me to get used to it. I know it sounds stupid but I can't shake the feeling of that happening again, so I want to be prepared. Better chance of survival.
I didn't used to be like this. I didn't used to worry on whether I would live to see my next birthday. That was before my parents died. Before my brother joined and died from a bomb.
Shaking away memories I focused on my team. Johnny was taking the left house and Mark the right.
I went straight before I heard a familiar clicking come from my right. Someone triggered a pressure plate.
"No one move!" I yelled.
They obeyed knowing one of them had triggered something.
I looked down and realized it wasn't me. So I walked to each of the boys. I came to Macgyver and saw a carpet beneath him.
"Macgyver you move and your dead and take us with you. We'll get you out of this." He shakily nodded to me and I could tell he was nervous.
"You'll be fine. I won't let anything happen to you." I told him softly.
Truth be told. We'd been seeing each other for a few months now.
I got on one knee and saw the plate immediately. It was a doozy.
"Mac do you trust me?" I asked him. He looked at me and he completely relaxed. He stared at my grey eyes. The eyes anyone would say would be dark and stormy, but he said to me once there's always a rainbow after the storm though I kind of like the rain. And he had winked. It was cheesy but I loved it.
"With my life." He said.
I nodded and looked to the bomb. "It's bad, Mac. Real bad. But I think I can diffuse it." I told him.
Just as his "handler" came running in, Jack Dalton. He wasn't a bad man, in fact he was a close friend of both mine and Macs. He was the only one who officially knew about us.
"Look at you, Maccy boy. Already triggered something and we just got here." He tried to joke to lighten the mood.
"Not the time, Jack. Go make sure the boys are far enough back."
If we went out we weren't taking anyone with us.
"Alright, boss."
He left and I looked to Mac and said, "There's two wires. Both black. Which way you want to go? One or two?"
He looked at me. "Two."
I nodded and brought my knife to the second one. Jerking my body up without cutting it yet I pressed my lips to his. It was quick and short but it immediately followed with me cutting a wire. The second.

BOOOOM

A bomb went off outside and I luckily had cut the right one but the terrorists were back with reinforcements. We ran outside and grabbed our guns. Diving behind a rock I took cover and saw Mac do the same to a houses corner.
Bullets ricocheted around us and I knew it was only a matter of time until one of us was hit.
Throwing a grenade towards a ledge it went off on impact and took the ledge with it. Collapsing around the Terrorists we were safe and I couldn't have been more proud of my strong and brave team.
They surrounded us and I counted not missing one I breathed a sigh of relief. They were all safe.
I saw Mac talking with Jack completely safe minus a few bumps and scratches.
Not being able to contain myself I pounced onto his back and wrapped my arms around his neck as he laughed and spun me around.
Jack chuckled at the happy team and knew nothing but death would ever be able to separate them.
He set me down and placed a long kiss on my lips in front of all the boys. Whistles and cat calls sounded but I couldn't care any less. I kissed back and it was one of the best days we've had in a while.
