Mia sat up quickly in the bed, her sweat sticking her hair to her hair. She reached up and clutched it between grasps tightly. Her ribs ached in pain that she knew she'd always feel. Jack sat up just after her. Once he realized there was no prominent danger he wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his head on her shoulder blade. "Babe, it okay." He muttered kissing her shoulder softly. It had been two weeks since that day, and she hadn't had a single day to breathe. She even developed an anxiety disorder.
"I'm sorry." She whispered. "I woke you up again. You're never going to get any sleep."
He released her when she said this. He picked her chin up and tilted it towards him in the dark of their room. "It's not your fault." He reminded. "What you go through, I go through."
She nodded and relaxed into his lap her head resting now solely on his chest. He ran his fingers through her hair silently. After a moment he looked at the clock. 6:30. "Baby doll. We have work." She mumbled some string of curses he wouldn't have known if he wasn't from Texas.
"I know. I know. But come on." He gently coaxed her out of bed and to get ready. It was a bad day, he could already tell.
Some days, at random times really, she'd have a "bad day", where it took all of him to get her out of the apartment. She was so scared he would come back. He as in not her father, but the man who had taken her to the back room. She had shot him, but he wasn't dead. Jack tried to convince her he was forced in jail, but it did next to nothing to console her.
"You're kids need you." He whispered as she slipped into her jeans for work. He kissed her head.
"I know." And that was the only thing besides Jack keeping her moving.
He made her coffee, to which she gladly nursed, her eyes widening as the day dragged on. He handed her an apple. "Here you go, teach." He joked.
She smiled and bit into it greedily. "Alright I got to get to work." He said on his way out the door, slipping his jacket on.
"Wait." She called, as he turned she kissed him sweetly for only a teasing second. When Mia pulled away she adjusted his shirt, his jacket and really anything on him, trying to keep him with her. She looked up to notice him smiling down at her, noticing this small trick. She met the eyes she had fallen for. "I love you." She whispered, holding tight onto his jacket.
He responded with a thick kiss. Just when it was getting heated she pulled away. Mia let go of his shirt. "You can't do that, this early." He growled huskily.
"I can and did." She told him, Turing and grabbing her teacher bag. "Walk me to my car and you might get another."
He laughed. She slipped his hand into hers as they left the premises of their apartment. He walked down the steps slowly, keeping in pace with her and her healing body.
Once they arrived to her car, she stood on her tip toes and kissed his nose, before hopping into her car. "See you later, Jackson."
"See you tonight, Ada." He said and winked as she shut the door.

Mia groaned at the children as they fought, yet again. It had been a long day. She summarized for their behavior. A fire drill, a long lecture, and horrible lunch that was burnt.
"Olivia!" Mia hollered as the girl threw a doll against the wall.
"What?" She hollered right back. Mia rose an eyebrow, and the child cowered. "I'm sorry, Miss Mia. But Alexia is always breaking her arm off."
Alexia sat criss crossed. She looked down. "Alexia? Is this true?" At that moment Mia remembered her home situation. They weren't rich and the doll was brand new to the class. Maybe she didn't know how to take care of it.
"Alex, do you know how to play dolls?"
She shook her head solemnly.
"Olive, can you show her how to play with it, without breaking it? Please." Olivia seemed happy to be given a task, and nodded enthusiastically.
"Okay." Mia laughed though it was forced. She grimaced as she stood up, struggling against the table as a brace.
Then out of no where, Brayden showed up at her side, and helped her brace herself.
"Are you okay, Miss Mia?" He asked worried.
"Yeah I'm Fine. Thank you, Bray." She ruffled his hair.
She then gave him a monster truck with brand new batteries. It was free time after all. It had been broken forever, but after Mac looked at it, it was good as new.
She took notice of Emma in the corner simply drawing, alone. "Em? You okay?" James, her best friend, was absent the day they went on an adventure, and after his parents discovered the news, pulled him out, suspecting Mia of "bad blood." The same with Molly, only she had been there. She had parted on good terms, but they were still nervous around her. She didn't blame them, but took grace in the rest of her kids.
"James, is gone." She mumbled, still adjusting to life without him.
"I know, sweet baby." She hugged the child. "But he's fine, just a few blocks over. In the next school." She tried to convince.
"I want James." She hollered.
"You don't like playing with girls do you?"
She shook her head. "They like dolls." Mia took notice of how she was raised yet again. A farmers child. Tomboy.
"What about Brayden? He's nice and would love to play trucks with you."
"Really?" She asked jumping to her feet.
She called Brayden over and told him that Emma wanted to play with him. He grabbed her hand and together a bond was formed, jumping chairs with a truck.
Her phone rang in her purse and she quickly ran to it.
