"Mom, where are we going?" I asked looking at the screaming people, as we rode past them.

I wanted to tell my mom to stop and help them, but I have watched enough survival movies to know some people would be so greedy as to steal everything you got.

I looked away and stared ahead at the window shield, and watched as buildings were set on fire and cars were ignited, almost instantly. It looked like something right out of a zombie apocalypse movie.

I tried calming myself down as I began to slightly panic at the thought of zombies being real.

Yes I have always dreamed of me kicking ass, if it were true, but if it's real......I may not have the same courage as the Scarlet in my dreams.

Maybe if I lay out my pros and cons I'll feel better about myself.

Pro: I can shoot. I may have only shot a couple of times, but my targets don't lie, and I have to say I'm a skill shooter.

Con: I may have to shoot a moving target.

Pro: I watched enough survival shows to know how to build a shelter, and learned some healing tricks.

Con: I've never tried that before.

Pro: I played call of duty many times to know how to aim and hold a gun, and how to crouch.

Con: It's a game. And I die a lot playing it. I won't just revive if I die. If I die, I'm dead forever.

"Away from here" my mom told me.

I let out a shaky breath and nodded.

"Scarlet, Im scared" Alex's soft trembling voice said.

I looked back at the poor kid. I tried to smile to reassure him, but failed horribly. I'm scared too, and I'm freaking out. I grabbed his small little hand from the passenger seat and held it. I used my thumb to caress his hand, and gave him my best smile.

"Everything is going to be ok" I told him.

He looked at me, tears still streaming down his face.

"Why did mommy, hurt daddy?" Alex asked.

My face turned bitter at the sound of my sister's so called husband. As much as I disliked him, he was my nephews father, and my brother in law. I couldn't help but be angered at the sound of Alex calling him daddy, that man has been nothing but an asshole to Alex, and yet here is my most adorned nephew, calling Kyle something he never acted like.

I didn't know how to reply to him so I tried coming up with the best excuse.

"Mommy, wasn't acting like herself.....but don't worry, Kyle is in a better place now, and so is mommy" I said trying to get him to not think about Kyle's body.

No four year old should ever have to experience something so traumatizing, and yet here is Alex, shaking in his own skin. He didn't say anything.

"Try and get some sleep" I told him softly.

He nodded and closed his eyes.

"I love you kiddo" I whispered, not knowing if he heard me or not.

"I love you more" He replied snoozing off.

I smiled and wiped a loose strand of his brown hair away from his face. He snuggled into my touch, and soon fell asleep, just like the rest of his cousins in the car.

I slowly let go of his small hand and faced the front again.

"Scarlet" My mom said, gaining my attention.

"Yeah mom" I asked, turning my gaze to the side of her face.

"I need you to be strong for them" She told me.

I nodded, but took in a shaky breath.

"I'm trying" I told her.

She took my hand in hers, and gave me a quick glance. I noticed how worried she looked, and if I didn't know any better I'd say she's just as scared as the rest of us.

"Get some sleep" She told me.

I nodded, and snuggled into the car's chair, not long after I began to drift off.
