I slowly opened my eyes, to see Samantha watching the tv like a hawk. Letting out a yawn, I sat up and looked at my watch.
11:30 am.
Blinking, I sat up and looked around. The sun was shining and it slightly sneaked it's way past the blinds. Thankfully the couch was blocking it's light from me so it didn't blind me to death.
With one last stretch, I stood up and made my way into the kitchen to grab a quick breakfast. Searching the cabinets, I let out a sigh of relief as my eye caught a box of cereal with the name 'Cheerios' on it. Knowing full well that we didn't bring any milk from our cow, I made the next best thing. I ate it without the milk, aren't I a clever gal.
Taking my bowl of cereal, I walked over to Sam, and placed it on a small table. I then waved my hand in front of her face to get her attention, I don't think she has noticed me waking up at all. Still not catching her attention I let out a huff and grabbed my bowl again. I took a seat on the couch and watched Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, with her.
Well no wonder I couldn't get her attention. If anyone knows Sammie better than I do, they would know she is obsessed with this show, especially with Detective Benson. Now, I'm more a fan of Detective Stabler. Samantha and I always argued over who was better. Of course no one really won, and it seemed almost tied. I narrowed my eyes at the thought. Detective Stabler was, no doubt way better then Benson. I would argue, all day to prove my point.
It wasn't until the show went on commercial, that Sammie actually noticed me.
"Oh hey, when did you wake up?" She said, looking at me with curiosity.
"A couple minutes ago" I informed her.
"Really?" She said furrowing her eyebrows together in confusion. "I didn't hear you"
I shrugged it off and looked at the pups, who were still sleeping by the way. I smiled at them, seeing how adorable they looked.
"Did you eat?" I asked her.
She was looking at the tv again, watching a commercial about robots. I've always wanted one to be completely honest, but my family was always poor, so we didn't have the money to afford one. To answer your questions, no they did not turn against humans, that would completely suck because the last thing we would have needed was a zombie and a Robot apocalypse. Taking another bite out of my dried cereal, I stared blankly at the tv.
"Yeah" She sighed leaning back into the cushions of the couch.
She closed her eyes, and seemed so at peace, that it scared me.
"Why do you look like Gandhi" I muttered.
She opened her eyes and gave me a soft glare.
"Well for once, I don't have annoying kids bothering me" She muttered.
I had to shrug in agreement. "True"
It's not that we had anything against the kids, because we don't. We just like the peace. You have to understand being fifteen and having to take care of not one, but FIVE kids is stressful.
Silence fell over us, once again I let my thoughts consume me as I stared at the tv.
However, six months of having to constantly worry about those kids really makes you feel like a mother to them. Of course I'm not, I'm their aunt and I like it that way.
"It's been so long since I've watched Law and Order SVU" She muttered.
My lips formed a thin line. It's been so long since I've watched tv period. I miss normality, but I guess this apocalypse is the new normalcy.
