I looked outside the bedroom's window, almost forgetting the dangerous zombie was right outside. I contemplated on opening the door and just shooting it. But my hand shook, every time I came close to touching the doorknob.

Don't be such a wuss, I told myself.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, just to calm my nerves. When I opened my eyes again, I was more relaxed.

More confident.

I stuck my arm out and placed my hand onto the doorknob. I was happy to see it didn't shake. Slowly I turned the doorknob, and pushed the door open. I backed up really quickly, and prepared to shoot the dead human.

Seconds later, and nothing happened. I waited, wanting to make sure it's not trying to trap me.

If that's even possible.

Still nothing happened. So this time I slowly walked outside onto the floor with the stairs. I cautiously stooped low to make sure the man with the gun wouldn't see me. Yet, when I looked down, I stopped in shock.

On the ground was the man, knocked out, with his gun gone, and getting his intestines eaten by the same zombie I was looking for. I looked for my mom, not caring about the stranger.

I didn't see her, so I assumed she made it safely to the car.

Great, I got this gun and these knives for nothing.

Letting out a breath of relief, I slowly made my way down the stairs. Trying my hardest not to alert the zombie. As I made my way to the car, I couldn't help but to look back at the Walker and it's food.

I was surprised to see the Walker gone. I looked around cautiously, and held the gun up. I kept my finger on the trigger, just in case. As I made my way past the cars, I felt as if someone was watching me.

Paranoia won't even describe it. I felt a cold chill go down my spine, when I heard a can being kicked.

I quickly spun around, and furiously looked for the sound source. When I couldn't find anyone or anything. I dropped all my stealth, and ran like hell. I didn't think about the dangers, or the possibility of it being another person.

It didn't matter, because right now, all that matters is getting to the car alive.

Funny. How you would have never thought. How I would have never thought. That, that something that was chasing me.

Was my mom.

Once I noticed this small little detail. I stopped running. I had to gather my breaths again, because of all the ones I had lost. I panted, and used my knees to hold myself up.

Man. I really should have taken gym class more serious.

When I regained my composure, I glanced at my mom, who was looking down at me.

"Why were you running?" My mom asked also out of breath.

I stood up.

"I thought you were a zombie" I told her.

My mom laughed. I didn't find it funny.

"Let's go, the kids are in the car waiting." She said.

I nodded.

As we walked, I happen to notice a small little detail.

"Hey mom" I stopped walking.

My mom looked at me, and stopped walking as well.

"Where's the gun?" I asked.

She furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.

"I didn't take it." She told me.

My eyes widened. If my mom didn't take it, and the stranger had nobody with him, then..

"MOM, THE KIDS" I screamed.

My mom and I took off running. Thankfully we reached the spot the car was in. And it was still there. I quickly opened the back seat to reveal four tired kids.

"Finally" Alize said, lifting herself up.

Alize took in our panicked expressions.

"What happened to you two?" She asked.

I let out a breath of relief, and engulfed her into a hug. Alize hugged back, patting my back awkwardly.

After hugging Alize, I grabbed Nya and hugged her tight.

"You're okay" I whispered to myself.
