"I just wanted to thank you guys again." Sam started to say.

I shook my head and looked at her through the passenger mirror.

"You don't have to thank me. I told you I would always be there for you. You're like Family, we'd do anything for you." I told her.

Sam smiled lightly and nodded.

"Yeah" She muttered softly.

I smiled softly at her, and then turned my attention back to the front.

I didn't understand why we couldn't just stop and rest somewhere and cook a home cooked meal... I just want to go home.

Or At least be able to sleep in a bed again. Not this sorry excuse of a car seat.

I looked at my mom who seemed more stressed then ever. I noticed we were close by the border of Oregon again, because we were a couple miles away from entering California.

I looked at my mom, confused as to why we are entering the state.

"Mom, where are we going?" I asked.

My mom didn't take her eyes off the road as she drove. I sighed impatiently, and leaned back in my seat.

We were currently in Ashland and the town seemed deserted. I began trying to think of any reason as to why we would be going to California. It was still hours away but we were definitely heading towards it.

Maybe we are going there for the soil. I heard the plantation there is really good. California has been on its best behavior lately, which to me is odd.

Yet, that didn't make sense. Why would we move to a whole other state, just for the plantation.

"Mom" I said, getting her attention.

My mom glanced at me quickly, before humming in response.

"Where are we going?" I asked again.

My mom sighed, and lazily used one hand to steer the car.

"Hopefully, somewhere safe" She muttered.

I wasn't expecting that answer, but before I could question her further, red and blue lights began to flash.

I crinkled my brow in confusion and looked behind me to see a police car. I grew even more confused.

"What the..." I muttered.

My moms confusion over powered mine and to my surprise she pulled over. The police car pulled over behind ours, and a white, blonde with blue eyes male stepped out of the drivers side, with his uniform.

"Mom why did you pull over?" I asked, before the man reached the car.

My mom glanced at me and lowered the window when the man reached her.

"license and registration please"  The man asked.

I scoffed.

This has to be some sick joke.

Before my mom could reply, I interrupted her.

"No offense officer, but you do know we are in the middle of an apocalypse" I said, slightly confused.

The officer switched his gaze to me and gave me a confused glare.

"I'm sorry what?" He asked.
