I shuddered from the memory, a couple months later and I still can't get over the fact of how it all started.
"Have you seen any military trucks or soldiers?" Sammie asked.
I stared out the window, trying to get rid of my terrible memories.
"Scarlet" Sam said catching my attention. "Do you see the military anywhere?" She asked again.
"No, none." I told her.
Looking away from the binoculars in my hands I watched her drive.
"How much longer until we reach the store?" I asked.
"20 more minuets at the most" Sam said watching the road.
I frowned.
Looking back out the window, I glanced at the empty houses we were passing by, walkers seemed to be almost everywhere. I counted how many there were, which had to be about 5-10.
Going back to my job I looked through the binoculars once more to look for any sign of the military. Letting out a sigh of relief, I looked away from the window and looked down at my phone. Plugging my phone into the stereo, I put on my all time favorite, Spirits by Strumbella.
I didn't put the radio up too loud, because walkers are attracted to sound.
I sung alonged to the chorus, realizing how true and relatable the lyrics were.
"I got guns in my head and they won't go.
Spirits in my head and they won't go."Holding on to my honey badger, I put my window down, and began to aim the gun at a walker that is getting to close to the truck. Pulling the trigger the Walker fell down on to the ground with a thump.
"Nice shot" Sam complimented.
"Thanks" I replied, while putting my window back up.
Putting the radio down I looked at my bestfriend.
"Do you ever think there could be-".
"Survivors"Sam cuts me off.
How did she-
"Yeah, sometimes" She answered, not moving her eyes from the road.
I nodded.
"Why?" She asks.
Why? I'm not sure. Maybe it's because I have a slim hope that some of my family members are out there somewhere still alive. Or that one day, human civilization can go back to normal.
I wanted to explain all of this to Sam but instead I shrugged. "Just a thought" she wouldn't understand.
She didn't comment back or question me further.
"We're almost there, let's not let our guard down" Sam said, glancing at the window.
"Yeah" I agreed, turning back to the window.
I put my binoculars to my eyes again and looked around the mall areas, I made sure there was no military around, I especially looked for cameras, and hidden snipers.
"Anything?" Sam asked.
"Not even a wire" I told her.
I shook my head, knowing this had to be some sort of trick. There are usually some kind of trap that's either set by some crazy bastard or the military.
