After a tearful reunion, we all sobered up a bit, and talked about what we went through from the following days since the beginning of the apocalypse.
Moses was sad to hear about Laury's death, and how she had turned. Even if he never liked to admit it, Laury was one of his closest sister's. My mom and Moses both cried over their deaths, but they did silently when nobody was watching.
I was watching but they didn't realize I was, that's how I know.
Anyways, we also tried to get as much information from him as we possibly could about the apocalypse.
From what he knows, a scientist was experimenting on humans to try and find a cure for some kind of disease. Apparently after one success this scientists made a shipment to a base, but was mailed to hundreds of hospitals instead. Because it was an illegal experimentation and was suppose to be a secret, they coded it as morphine.
It's not hard to realize that people got injected with it, died, then came back to life and began to eat and bite other people. Which is what started this whole apocalypse.
"His name was Dr.Skits. Some soldiers have found his laboratory a couple of days ago, it's also where they found his rotting corpse." Moses said, keeping his eyes on the road as he drove.
I grimaced at the image of a dead body, and felt no remorse toward Dr.Skits death. Because of him my sister is dead. Because of him my nephews and nieces will never have a normal life again. This is all his fault and it's such a shame he doesn't get to experience our new way of living.
"He got what was coming to him." I said coldly.
Moses and mom stayed quiet in the front seat, not commenting on how cold my statement seemed.
"Did they mention on finding a cure?" This time it was Samantha who spoke up.
I glanced over towards Sam, who only gave me a "what?" Look. I shrugged and turned back to the front, and waited for Moses to answer Samantha.
"No, as far as I know, there is no such thing as a cure." He informed us.
I almost had to shield my disappointment but instead I just looked out the window again. We passed by a couple of houses, then trees. We also passed by these buildings, where, I'm guessing, doctors were in.
Maybe a health center of sort?
I mentally placed a reminder to map out the base entirely, so that way I will be able to find my way around.
I began to wonder if we would actually be able to live here in peace. Without any Zombie interruptions, or something else.
Could this really be a safe haven? Or am I just getting my hopes up for something that will soon be in ruins.
I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
After Moses took another turn we finally pulled up to a nice two story house. It was modern looking and seemed extremely beautiful. Of course since this was the military all the houses looked the same, but still, I knew I would like this one.
I unbuckled my seatbelt, and hopped out of the truck/car. Still can't remember the name they use for it. It was one of those military cars, it was a light brown, kinda like dry mud and it had four doors.
Anyways, the kids piled out of the car as well, all looking restless and tired. Which is odd because they have been the ones to sleep most of the time.
