Love and Tragedy.

Chapter 24

Meredith

I wake up in a hospital bed, Richard was sitting in a chair next to the bed holding my hand. 

"Hey." he says noticing i'm awake and filling my cup with water for me to drink, after I drink the water my throat feels so much better "How long have I been out?" I ask "Not long you just got to the hospital a couple minutes ago, Amelia checked you out, you have a concussion also you had a gash on your forehead that needed stitches, your nose is bashed up a bit but not broken, other than that you are okay." he says giving me a soft smile.

"The kids?" I ask getting out of bed, I still had my clothes on from earlier. "Zola's fine, she also needed stitches in her chin uh, she has some seat belt burn, but she's doing great." he nods and then goes back to looking like he's thinking "Bailey has a broken arm, it's pretty bad, they had to take him to surgery, his face has some bruising and he got cut on his check probably from some glass, they aren't sure yet if he needs stitches, at least they weren't when I talked to them last."

He takes a brake looking at me "Go on I say." standing up "Meredith sit down." he says and I sigh sitting back down in the bed. "Addy's in surgery, she has a spinal injury." he says looking down "Ellis?" I ask holding my tears back "She's in surgery as well, the piece of metal in her back puncherd her lung, she also had a brain injury, she had lack of oxygen to the brain, and with her lung, well she stopped breathing, her heart stopped pumping. They had to resuscitate her a couple times in the ambulance, when she got here she was breathing and then she crashed again and that's when they took her into surgery." he says 

I put my head in my hands and start crying "Shit Alex?" I ask "They found him, miles away from the crash, he was also not breathing when they found him. They did CPR and brought him back." he looks at me for the first time in this conversation "He's in surgery, he is the worst out of all of you, he isn't doing so well." he says.

I stand up and started to pace "He unbuckled for  couple minutes to get Bailey's toy, he saved Bailey from unbuckling. He was buckling back up when, when, when we got hit and then he was just gone." I say crying "Oh my god this is all my fault." I collapse onto the floor and I feel Richards hands on my shoulders.

"It wasn't your fault they think the other driver was drunk. It's not your fault." he says "Now get up and go to Zola, she needs her mother to tell her everything is going to be okay. Meredith you are the strongest women I know, and it's wearing off on all of these kids, they are going to make it, and Alex, don't even get me started he will make it, they all will." 

I look up at him and wipe my eyes "Thanks Richard." "Come on Zola has been asking for you." he says as he takes me to Zola.

"Mommy!" she screams when she sees me I bend down and she engulfs me in a hug "I'm so glad you're okay baby." I whisper in her ear hugging her tightly "I didn't cry when I got my stitches." she says looking at me with a big smile on her face. "You are so strong." I say smiling "Can you hangout with Grandpa for a bit, while I get some things done?" I ask and she nods her head.

I let go of her and she takes a hold of Richards hand I give them a smile and walk off.

I walk into the hospitals chapel, I go up to the front and I light 4 candles I then go and sit down on the benches.

"Derek?" I ask "I don't know if you can hear me, but I hope you can. So our baby girl stopped breathing on me, I hope you were with her the whole time, also If she doesn't make it through this please take care of her. I know you will, you were, are, the best dad. Introduce her to her aunts and uncles who are with you up there. If she has a chance though, tell her to fight, she's a fighter. She reminds me so much of you, she looks just like you and acts like you." I laugh

 "I love her so much more for that reason." I start crying "Anyways just take care of our girl for ever how long she's up there. If you see Alex tell him not to leave us because her daughter needs him, he'll want to stay because of Jo, help Jo talk him out of it. Tell him not to be stupid because he needs to be here for Addy." 

"Anyways I love and miss you so much and I really hope you can hear me, I wish I could hear you." I say and I wipe my eyes for the hundredth time tonight and leave.
