" There's a moment when you're still in the dark, small explosions fire out from your heart. "
Tuesday, 4:32 AM
A loud, persistent ringing echoed all around the blond girl, which made her leap out of her unconscious state. She sat up, alarmed, and tried to distinguish anything from the dark horizons, though it was pointless.
Soon, she realized the ringing was in fact coming from her own ears, and that her head was pounding painfully as though an orchestra of drums was performing inside her mind.
Around her, everything was clouded with dust and all that she could hear was the worrisome, echoing creaking sounds coming from up above her head, as though she was stuck underneath heavy wreckage, menacing to fall apart any second.
Her skin and fingers were as cold as ice, and she could almost feel the freezing sensation getting through her bones, which hinted she was probably in some sort of extremely humid place.
She decided to get up after a while, realizing it was probably the best thing to do when being in such a situation. But as soon as she got on her feet, she felt a harsh pain coming from her left ankle, and the pain strangely reminded her of the one she had felt two days ago, when she had realized her shoulder was dislocated.
It's only when she gazed down to the palms of her hands — which were badly scratched and injured — that everything returned to her mind.
"Finn!" She yelled as loud as she could, feeling her heart clench within her chest.
She could still picture the frightening twirling spectacle that was coming toward them, and she could still feel the ghost of Finn's warm, comforting hand around hers. She recalled how the tornado had hit the tall structure, and how it had quickly became a huge pile of wreckage, which had engulfed everything around. Then, she remembered the panic that had settled down her chest, and the impact following which had separated her from Finn, the only thing that kept her sane.
But after that, there was nothing. Her mind was blank from the amount of time that happened between the moment she got separated from him until she woke up. She couldn't explain the ankle, nor the scratched hands, but she knew that it surely happened while she had been unconscious. But there was truly just one single thing that really disturbed her.
Where the hell was Finn?

Echoes of her screams pierced his bones, flowing down his veins, and possessing his every thoughts. It was the first thing he thought about as soon as his eyes opened: he thought about Clarke, and if she was even still alive.
The huge structure had collapsed in pieces in front of their eyes, and the next thing he knew was that she wasn't by his side anymore. Clarke, the most precious thing he had on earth. She was his anchor in this frightening new world, a shoulder he could lean on in harder times. She couldn't be dead, he wasn't going to believe that, not even for one little second.
"Clarke!" He yelled over and over again, panic washing across his body. His heart felt as though it was going to explode within his chest, it pumped and pumped faster than what he believed it capable of. He had lost everything in the past 48 hours, and had found the one person that was able to fill the newly created holes in his heart. Except right now, he didn't even know where she was, if her heart was even still beating. Her heartbeats, which he had previously felt against his bare chest. And he was convinced her heart had been beating for him during that specific moment, as he knew his had been beating for her, and only her. He just couldn't lose her, she was everything he had...
