A Smash Bros. Adventure (Old Version)

Chapter 41: Speech

Jacob's POV:

I was waiting on the outside of the conference room for Nathan and Maia. I looked at my watch. They were suppose to be here a couple of minutes ago. When I looked back up, there they both were, walking this way.

Me: "What took you guys so long?"

Maia: "We weren't gone for that long."

Me: I turned towards Nathan. "You ok, man?"

Nathan: "Yeah, I'm fine."

Me: "Really, you're not feeling nervous or anything?"

Nathan: "Nervous? Why would I be nervous?"

Maia: "Oh, I didn't tell him yet."

Nathan: "Tell me what? What don't I know about?"

Maia and me: "You need to give a speech."

Nathan: "What!?"

Maia: "You were originally suppose to give the speech in Smash City but it got destroyed."

Nathan: "You-you-you-you've gotta be joking. I-I'm not a public speaker. A-and to top that off, I'm giving the speech to Nintendo characters."

Me: "Nathan, It's gonna be alright. We'll be right by your side."

I could tell he was extremely tense so I tried to at least try and make him feel a little better. He took a deep breath.

Me: "Alright, if you guys are by my side; I'll give it a go."

Maia: "Alright then. Let's not keep them waiting a moment longer."

3rd Person:

They entered the room. It looked like every brawler was in there. Well, all except the bad guys. Peach was speaking when they entered and just mentioned that is shouldn't be much longer for The Chosen One to arrive.

Peach: "Oh, speaking of which; here he is now."

Everyone turned towards Nate. Sweat started to run down his entire body. Jacob reassured him by putting a hand on his shoulder.

Jacob: "You got this."

Nathan took another deep breath before going to the head of the room. Peach reasshured him too when he got up there.

Peach: "We know you're nervous, so just try to take it slow, ok?"

He nodded in return. Peach smiled softly and took a seat with the other Brawlers. Nathan looked at Maia and Jacob who were standing to the side like they said they would. Jacob gave him a thumbs up. He then took one final deep breath.

Nathan: "Well, uh, I'm honored to be speaking to you all... But, uh, to be honest, I never believe, not even once in my life, that I would find myself in this amazing world surrounded by so many amazing people. I mean, you guys are legends, heroes, and just awesome. And the opportunity to meet all of you has been a great pleasure.

Sure, you may think I'm better than you because I'm the "Chosen One" but there's a saying I made once. It goes: "A name means nothing unless its owner can live up to its meaning". To everyone that's heard about me, they think I'm a god-like being. But to me, "Chosen One" means nothing. It's just another name to me.

You guys, on the other hand, live up and beyond your names. Link; You've found your way around many different obstacles and puzzles. Ash; You and Pikachu have stood up to many different foes and never stood down, no matter how hard the challenge was. Kirby; You've fought foes ten times your size, even more, and have stood victorious against every one.

Anyways, my point is that you guys inspired me. You're the ones who've help me through the rough times in life, even if you didn't know at the time. You're the ones who've made me who I am today. You're the ones who encouraged me to stand against mighty foes and accept every challenge, no matter how hard it may be.

If you can help a normal kid like me find out who I am, you can help many more people. You can help them defeat mighty foes and overcome anything. All you need to do is continue to be you. Show them what it means to be a warrior, a hero, a legend, a titan, a brawler... Just like you all showed me." The room went silent for a few seconds. "Thank you for your time."

Nathan was about to step down when, all of a sudden, everyone stood up and started clapping. Nathan looked around the room. A smile grew on his face. He looked towards Maia and Jacob. They were both smiling and clapping along with the rest of the brawlers. The grin on Nathan's face grew bigger. He almost couldn't believe this was all really happening.

He walked towards Maia and Jacob. Jacob instantly gave Nathan a big hug.

Maia: "You did alright, kid."
