Chapter 35: Free Time

Jacob's POV:

We went to where Link and Little Mac told us to go. But when we got there, they weren't there. There was a note tho. I picked it up and read it aloud.

Me: "We heard there was a disturbance in the west. We will be back early tomorrow morning to train you. Here are your hotel keys and room number."

Nathan: "Now what are we suppose to do?"

Me: "I'm not sure about you but I'm gonna take a walk. You wanna come with?"

Nathan: "And have a stampede of Inklings chasing me around? No thanks."

Me: "Alright then. But call me if you change your mind." I exited the building.

Nathan's POV:

I went into our hotel room. Eve ran inside and jumped onto one of the beds. It was a nice room. I laid down on the bed. It was extremely comfortable, so comfy, in fact, that I didn't even notice myself falling asleep.

I quickly opened my eyes up and sat up. It didn't feel like any time passed. I looked at my phone. I couldn't believe what time it was. 8:49! I then noticed I had a text from Jacob. He sent it 20 minutes ago. I read it.

"Hey, Nathan. Come over to Urchin Underpass. There's something someone wants to show us at 9:00."

That only gave me ten minutes to get over there. While walking out the door I quickly texted back:

"Hey. Just woke up. Will be there shortly."

I was halfway out the door when I suddenly remembered Eve. I looked over at her. She was still sleeping. I set my phone down to pet her and kissed her head. I then continued out the door.

After leaving the hotel I realized I had no clue where Urchin Underpass was. I went to grab my phone from my pocket to ask Jacob where it was. But all I felt were the room keys. There was no time to go back and get my phone.

'What do I do?' I asked myself. 'I don't want to ask someone and start another stamped.' But I had no choice. I had to ask someone for directions. But I couldn't find anyone. Where were they?

As I turned a corner I bumped into someone causing us both to fall to the ground. The inkling dropped their phone in the process. I picked it up and handed it to them.

Me: "Sorry."

The inkling looked up at me with a shocked look. I knew she knew who I was. I could tell she was a girl because of her long, orange, tentacle-like hair. She was wearing a white T with black shorts and cool looking kicks. She was about to say something but I raised my hand before she could say it.

Me: "Just call me Nathan."

She took her phone and I helped her up.

Inkling: "T-Thanks, Nathan." She had a puzzled look on her face. "What are you doing out here?"

Me: "I'm supposed to meet a friend at Urchin Underpass but I don't know where that is."

Inkling: "I was just on my way over there. Follow me. I'll take you there. But we better hurry. It's gonna start soon."

Me: "What is?"

Inkling: "You'll see when we get there. Oh, and the name's Mindy."

Me: "Thanks, Mindy." We both started running towards Urchin Underpass. "So where is everyone?"

Mindy: "Either doing turf wars for the splatfest or at Urchin Underpass waiting for 'the show'."

We soon arrived. There were several other squid kids there. I found Jacob hanging out with a boy inkling with blue hair.

Jacob: "There you are. What took ya?"

Me: "I got lost. But Mindy here helped me find my way. Mindy, this is my good friend Jacob."

Mindy: "It's nice to meet you, Jacob." She then turned to the other inkling. "Hello, Lucas."

Lucas: "Hello, Annoying Orange."

Mindy: "I thought I told you not to call me that."

Lucas just gave an idiotic grin in return. Jacob pulled out his phone and looked at the time.

Jacob: "It's 8:00!"

Mindy & Lucas: "Here it comes."

In an instant, the whole sky was filled with color. Fireworks were everywhere. The view from where we were was unbelievable.

After the fireworks, Jacob and I started walking back to the hotel. Mindy and Lucas walked with us.

Jacob: "So, are you two, like..."

Mindy: "Boy friend, girl friend? Yeah, you could say that."

Me: "How did you two meet?"

Mindy: "Well, we first became besties when Lucas here saved me from getting bullied. He was so brave."

Lucas: "Yeah, all I had to do was show them my 11th tentacle and-" Mindy slapped Lucas. "Oww!"

Mindy: "Don't say that in front of the chosen one!"

Lucas: "But I thought you liked perfect round cylinders of-" Mindy slapped him again, this time harder. "OWW!"

Jacob and I looked at each other and sweat dropped. After some more crude humor jokes by Lucas and several slaps by Minds we soon found ourselves back at the hotel. We said bye to our new inkling friends and walked inside. We then walked into our room. I went to the bathroom while Jacob went to the beds. When I came out of the bathroom I had a great surprise.

Jacob: "Why didn't you tell me Eve evolved?"

Me: "What?"

Jacob: "Look at Eve. She's a Sylveon."

To my surprise, she was a Sylveon. I couldn't believe my eyes. She finally evolved. I knew she would ever since I found that TM Susan told me to get. After petting her I got ready for bed and fell asleep.
