it was another dreadful day at school.

tyler sat alone quietly at the lunch table towards the back of the blaring cafeteria.

high school.

everyone had their own clique, except tyler. it's not like tyler felt left out, i mean he did want some friends but it was better if he didn't make any. how could he make any anyways? he can hardly speak to his mom without having anxiety.

as he sat at the uncomfortable lunch table his attention fell to the 'popular' table.

you know, the table everyone wants to sit at, where all the gossip happens. everyone was talking and having a good time, tyler wondered what it was like, to be 'popular'.

he set his eyes on the yellow-haired boy.

josh.

it wasn't just a crush, tyler was in love.
as he saw josh wrap his arms around his girlfriend, tyler flicked his eyes away.

he felt guilty.

he so desperately wanted to be one of the kids who was admired by everyone at school, but tyler doesn't get what he wants.

he jumped as the bell rang dismissing lunch and his thoughts. he mumbled to himself before getting up and rushing to class.

when tyler got home he headed into the kitchen where his mom was, making dinner.

she made dinner early because she worked the night shift which left tyler alone at night.

his dad left them when he was 10. tyler blamed himself, and he never could forgive himself. you could say he was depressed, but he liked being alone sometimes.

"hey, how was school?"

tyler tossed his book bag down on the kitchen floor before hopping up on a chair.

"a-alright."

"that's good."

tyler's mom was worried. was it normal for her teenage son not to have any friends, let alone even try to make some?

they've been through this many times before, yet tyler never complains.

"how are you feeling?"

"i-better. i guess."

she gave him a sincere smile before he headed upstairs until dinner was done.

please, someone be tyler's friend.

when tyler woke up he walked over to his closet pulling out a black hoodie he knew to well.

it was his favorite.

maybe it was the way it fit his small figure perfectly or generally he just really loves the color black, either way, he loved it.

he glanced down at his wrists, tracing his finger tips over the old scars that covered them.

his brows met together at the center of his face, memories flooded in his mind of old times. oh, how he wished he could forget.

he threw on his clothes before jolting down the stairs, heading to school.

:.。..。.:

tyler felt himself shrink as brendon, the school jock, stood over him.

he towered over him almost like a l.a skyscraper.

tyler was vulnerable, but then again when isn't he?

he felt himself wince as brendon brought his fist up a few inches away from tyler's face. brendon chuckled before dropping his fist and shoving tyler into the lockers.

tyler groaned, feeling his eyes dampen.
he walked away eyeing brendon as he stumbled down the hall.

he held his notebook tighter to his chest when brendon glanced at him once more.
he turned around, facing front again before bumping into someone. tyler fell to the ground along with his notebook.

"shit, are you okay?" he heard someone say above him.

he didn't look up to see who it was, he just sat there replaying what just happened in his mind.

he reached for his notebook getting ready to get up before he saw a hand offered out to him.

he gulped, eyeing it wondering if he should take it. he hesitantly took the hand, it pulling him up to have his eyes meet the yellow-haired boy.

"um- ye-eah i'm o-oka-y" tyler tried spitting out.
he hated talking, especially if it was to his crush.

"i'm josh." the boy smiled, still holding tyler's hand.

tyler stared at their hands, and quickly yanked his away feeling nervous.

"um, i-i have to go."

tyler choked.

"wait!" josh yelled as tyler started walking away. "i never got your name?"

tyler stoped, eyes widening. he turned on his heels facing josh again, this time farther away.

"tyler." he mumbled.

"well, I'll see you around tyler." josh winked.

tyler nodded before turning around and letting his smile take over.

did josh just talk to the invisible boy?
