josh laid down in his bed. he just laid there, not being able to sleep. thoughts racing his mind, but the one he couldn't help but think about. the one thought that consumed him, was about tyler.

he was so confused to the point it angered him. how could he love two people at once? surely, if he could, it would be now.

i mean, he loved debby. she's the one josh has been through everything with. hell, he still remembers the day they met.

(flashback)
josh stood in the corner of the gymnasium. it was freshman year, and of course his mother made him go to the first homecoming dance of the school year. josh didn't mind either. maybe it would be fun. but, right now it wasn't.

josh scanned the room, a plastic cup in his hand that held the drink the school served. all he wanted to do was find ashley and tell her he wanted to go home. he didn't even know why we went in the first place, seems how he didn't have a date. unless, you counted ashley as his 'date'. they were best friends though and nothing more.

josh spotted the dark brown haired girl dancing around in the crowd of people. he started walking towards her, making sure to keep his drink still so it wouldn't spill.

"ashley!" josh yelled when he gave up on going to her. she looked up from where she had her eyes placed, glancing around to find josh waving his hand for her to come.

she made her way over, laughing a little as she stumbled in her heels. "hey, josh!" she put her hand on his shoulder, stabling herself as she fixed her shoes. "damn, i've never worn heels before. i'd never think they'd be this complicated." she giggled, as she got done fixing them, to then run her hands over her turquoise dress.

josh rolled his eyes, watching as she played with her dress, swaying so it traveled with her. "you know, turquoise looks good on you." josh smiled. "maybe i should die my hair." ashley joked, rolling her eyes. "yeah you should!" josh agreed. "wait, i was joking." she furrowed her eyebrows as josh let out a 'hm' sound. "i'll think about it." she huffed, looking back at josh whose eyes traveled the room.

josh's eyes made an abrupt stop when he saw a girl sitting alone at a table. "hey, ashley. who's that?" he tapped her shoulder even though she was already paying attention, as he discretely pointed his finger at the girl. "oh her? that's debby. she's a freshman, also a total babe." ashley wiggled her eyebrows. "go talk to her." she added.

"i d-" before josh could finish his sentence, he was being pushed near the table. he turned behind him to find ashley shooing him towards her and mouthing 'go' giving him a thumbs up. he gulped, strolling towards the table the red-head sat at.

he cleared his throat to get her attention as he sat down next to her. "um hi. i'm josh." he held out his hand. "oh, hi josh. i'm debby." she gave him a friendly smile. "i know- i mean, sorry that was weird. no, uh- do-do you wanna go dance or something?" he stuttered giving her a cheesy grin afterwards.

"i'd love to, josh." debby blushed, putting her hand back out for josh to take it. josh grabbed her hand and lead her towards the dance floor.
(end of flashback)

ever since josh has met tyler, things have changed. whether it be his feelings or just things in general.

josh was startled when he heard his phone buzz against his side table. he rolled over picking it up to see the name he so desperately wanted it to be. tyler.

tyler: hey you awake?

josh: yeah. can't sleep

tyler: me either, call me please?

josh smiled at the response. of course he would have to be quite but he wanted to hear tyler's voice. he exited out of messages to then open his contacts, pressing the one with tyler's name.

it didn't even have to ring twice, tyler answering quickly. "hi" josh whispered through the phone. he laid on his bed as he rested himself on his elbow. "hi" tylers voice sounding a bit strained, but also very soft. it comforted josh. "what are you doing?" josh asked trying to bring up a conversation, about anything mostly.

"um, well talking to you." tyler smiled as he said those words. "i know that, but what else." josh rolled over, making the sound sheets shifting fill the air. there was silence for a minute before tyler spoke up. "thinking."

"thinking? about what?" josh questioned. "i don't know. just stuff." tyler mumbled. "hm, stuff." josh mocked. tyler let out a muffled giggle. "what are you doing? joshua."

"thinking." josh bit his lip.

"about what?" tyler said, smiling. there was silence for a second before josh sighed.

"about you." he grinned, laying on his back now, as he rested his hands on his face.

"hm, me?" tyler couldn't stop smiling after that.

"yes."

a couple hours passed and tyler and josh were still on the phone. thank god, it was the weekend.

"yeah but that's why it's my favorite song because just it's so meaningful you know?" josh stated, but to be followed by silence. "tyler?" he said into the phone, but still no response. he listened closely to hear faint snores coming from the other end. josh just shook his head and chuckled. "goodnight ty." josh whispered before hanging up and setting his phone back on the stand. he laid down in his bed throwing the covers over his shoulder. a smile crept on his face without him even noticing.

tyler makes him happy.
