Having to help people through something that you've been through but went completely wrong is horrible.
You want to assure them that everything will be fine, but in your experience, it was just the opposite. Is it lying or wishful thinking?
And then you just think "what if, when I was in that position, I had someone to help me through it like this?" And of course that leads you to think that things could have turned out a better way, and you think about how life would be if they had. Then suddenly you're sad and angry all over again because you didn't have someone there to help you through it and everything is in ruins.
