No matter how cliche it seemed, JJ was in love with Blair Nakamura; the newest member of the BAU. She was fresh out of college with a Master's in criminal psychology and a BS in childhood development. JJ was in love with Blair's brain, as well as the jet black hair, graham cracker skin, and the wild green eyes that encapsulated it. JJ didn't want to admit her crush to anyone because she was sure Blair was as straight as they come. Even still, that couldn't keep JJ from loving her from afar. But perhaps she was a bit too far.

One evening, when everyone was just about done for the day, Morgan suggested a night on the town. Everyone but Blair eagerly agreed.

"I don't know guys. I've got stuff going on."

"Really? Whatcha got mama?" Derek pressed.

"Um..." Blair searched for an answer. "Okay. Fine. I don't have stuff going on. I just don't wanna go out."

"Why not?" Spencer chirped.

"I just- uh... I- I don't know..." Blair was about to say she didn't need to justify introversion when JJ caught her eye. Her blonde hair was down from its usual ponytail, allowing Blair to notice that it was slightly curled. She began to wonder whether it was natural or not when Rossi's voice brought her back.

"Um, hello? Earth to Blair? Blair!"

"Hmm? Oh! Right. Um, I guess I'll come," she mumbled into her lap. She heard her co-workers cheer. When she looked up, Blair could have sworn she saw excitement spread across JJ's face.

The team decided on a bar a few miles from the office. Everyone was either drinking, dancing, or, in Garcia's case, both. They were all having a good time. All except Blair, who was too caught in a cycle of drooling over JJ then reminding herself that JJ doesn't see her like that.

After a few hours of what only the kindest of souls would call dancing, Blair'd had enough. She felt like JJ was teasing her, even though she knew that wasn't what was happening.

"JJ?" she shouted over the music.

"YEAH?"

"I'M GONNA GO, OKAY? I'M TIRED."

JJ's heart dropped a little. She kicked herself for foolishly thinking that Blair would be going home with her that night.

"OKAY. UM, GOOD NIGHT THEN."

Maybe she imagined it, but as she started to leave, Blair heard a whisper from JJ that sounded an awful lot like "I love you". Blair shook her head, telling herself that she was delusional. She walked outside and opened the Uber app.

20 minutes later a man with a lumberjack beard and a leather jacket walked into the bar and looked around. Spotting JJ, he walked up to her.

"HEY."

"UM, HI."

"ARE YOU," the man checked his phone, "BLAIR NA- NA, UM, BLAIR N?"

"N- NO. NO WHY?"

"WELL THIS BLAIR GIRL CALLED AN UBER AND YOU'RE IN THE PROFILE PIC SO I THOUGHT..."

JJ stopped listening. I'm in her profile picture? she thought. Then the rest of the sentence hit her. "WAIT. SHE CALLED YOU AND SHE WASN'T THERE?"

"YEAH PRETTY MUCH."

JJ turned around and looked for the rest of her team.

. . .

"You stupid," punch, "ugly," slap, "dirty ass skank!" slap.

Blair was tied to a chair that was bolted to the ground. She didn't know exactly how long she'd been there, or even where "there" was, but she guessed she'd been in the poorly insulated room for three, maybe four, days.

"Why," punch, "would," punch, "you," slap, "do this??" the unsub grunted. "ANSWER ME!" he shouted, kicking Blair in the shin until they heard a snap.

Blair screamed in agony before painfully, yet defiantly, whispering, "how... many times... do I ha- have to... to tell... y- you? I- I... am n- not N... Nicole."

"LIAR!" he shrieked, pulling out his knife. Ignoring Blair's cries, the unsub dragged the knife across Blair's arms, thighs, and chest. When he was satisfied he leaned down and hissed into her ear, "I'm saving your stomach for last, Nicole."

Blair was mustering up the strength to spit in his face when they heard a door upstairs being forcefully opened and Hotch's powerful voice, followed by shouts of "Clear!" by Morgan and JJ.

The unsub groaned and looked back at Blair. "I'll be right back, slut," he cooed.

Blair tilted her head down and opened her mouth, letting the blood and spit eek out. When her mouth was sufficiently empty, she weakly cried out for help a few times before passing out from blood loss.

Two gun shots later and JJ was in front of her. She stood there silent and on the verge of tears. After taking a moment she shouted for Morgan, who came down and untied Blair.

"Oh god," JJ croaked. "She's shaking so badly."

Morgan took her outside where they waited for a minute before the ambulance got there.

"Come on baby girl stay with me now," Morgan coaxed. "Come on, come on. You're not done yet. You ain't done." Morgan leaned down and quietly into her ear, added, "you still got the hots for JJ. I see it when you look at her. You gotta hold on sugar. Hold on for her."

The ambulance arrived and JJ took Morgan's place, watching over Blair the whole ride over.

. . .

Blair was unconscious for three weeks. When admitted, she had a fever of 105.3, a broken tibia and fibula, a concussion, several cuts of varying depths and lengths, and a crap ton of bruises. The BAU team took turns visiting her.

Rossi read her Italian bedtime stories.

Hotch told her the office chatter and about silly things Jack said.

Garcia brushed Blair's hair and painted her nails as she hummed pop songs.

Prentiss caught her up on celebrity gossip.

Reid talked about anything and everything.

JJ just sat and held Blair's hand. She was at the hospital the most.

The three weeks elapsed and Blair woke up. She'd been off life support for a few days as her eyes fluttered open. She squinted around the room to find a sniffling JJ sitting next to her.

"Hi," Blair wheezed.

JJ snapped to attention and her shock faded into a smile. She quickly grabbed the glass of water from the table and held it up for Blair, tipping it every so slightly until she drank it all.

"I love you," JJ blurted.

Blair's eyes widened.

"I just... I needed you to hear that. I know you don't feel the same and that's fine. It's just that I almost didn't get the chance to tell you and," JJ took a deep breath. "I love you."

The heart monitor's beeping speed up and worry returned to JJ's face.

"Relax, JJ. I- I- I'm just excited because... I- I love you too. I didn't think you liked girls because you were with Will and all..."

JJ giggled a little before leaning over and kissing Blair softly. "Bisexuality. Look it up," she whispered with a wink. "I started avoiding you because my feelings were too, um, strong, I guess."

"I noticed you being distant. I didn't like how much space was between us... It wasn't even nice space. It was just... cold space. Empty space. Nothing space." Blair looked up at JJ, who was stifling a laugh. "Whaaaaaat?"

"You're really cute when you're all drugged up."

Blair's face turned red. "I don't like the space between us now either..." Blair mumbled.

"Well then maybe I should," JJ flicked her eyebrows up, "close it," she finished, leaning closer to Blair and kissing her softly.
