"Uh, today we have some visitors!" the teacher chirped to her class.

Outside, you could hear the teacher preparing the students for Spencer's lecture.

"Hey," Morgan consoled. "I can stay out here with you."

You shook your head. "N- no. I'm okay. You go in."

"Alright," Morgan said skeptically.

"Please give a warm welcome to Dr. Spencer Reid from the FBI!" The teacher nodded to Spencer before leaving the room, passing Morgan in the doorway.

You stood outside the classroom tapping your foot and shaking. You were debating whether or not to go in.

"Two different methods, uh, strangulation and hyperventilation create the same effect, uh, oxygen deprivation in the brain. Um..."

Morgan walked over to a boy in the third row.

"Hey, kid. Not a good idea. Let me see it."

The boy placed his phone into Morgan's waiting hand.

"What planet is this dude from?" he read aloud. "He doesn't want us to win the contest."

"Um- uh, uh- I think the more accurate statement would be 'he doesn't want us to participate in the contest at all.'

"See, Ryan cut off all oxygen to his brain, which sent a distress signal to his heart, slowing it down. His brain, in an effort to save itself, shuts off all non-essential body functions. His legs gave out, his arms gave out so he couldn't loosen the tie around his neck. Then panic set in. In Ryan's case that led to cardiac arrest, meaning his heart stopped. Brain damage began and in four minutes Ryan was completely brain dead. Ryan probably died scared and in a lot of pain, all because he wanted to win what I consider a pretty- pretty lame game."

"You all believe this crap?" a kid with spiked hair, a choker, and an overall gothic look snarked.

"You don't?" Morgan retorted.

"No. Why should I?" The kid turned to face Spencer. "Why do you care so much if we play or not?"

Spencer's face went pale. "That- um, that- that's a bit of a- um, personal qu- question..."

"What happened?" the kid pestered.

"Hey!" Morgan warned. "Leave him alone."

Spencer began to sweat. "I- I almost, um, my- my..."

"I tried to kill myself," you replied.

The whole classroom turned to where you were standing.

"By hanging myself." You walked over to your boyfriend, Morgan watching you very closely.

"You don't have to—"

"It's okay. Uh hi. My name's y/n and um, I hanged myself, unsuccessfully, obviously." You let out a nervous chuckle. "I- I did, pretty much exactly what Ryan did. But I meant to die. The only reason I didn't was because my boyfriend found me."

Spencer knocked on his and your room door.

"Y/n/n? You okay? I'm gonna come in now, okay?" Spencer opened the door and stood in horror at the sight that greeted him.

"Y/N!" he screamed, rushing to your side. Cutting you down from the closet door he ripped the tie from your neck.

"Come on, come on!" he shouted, beginning chest compressions. As he did, he pulled out his phone.

"911 what is your emergency?"

"I- I have a suicide victim!" Spencer shouted, furiously pounding on your chest. "The- the victim isn't breathing a- and I don't think the heart is—" Spencer's sobs prevented him from finishing.

"Sir? SIR! I need your address."

Spencer gave the operator your address and minutes later the EMTs were rushing up the stairs.

Spencer rubbed your back, whispering that you could stop talking if you wanted.

You shook your head. "The- the thing no one ever tells you a- about dying is that, no matter how much you want to die, as you're doing it an- and your body is fighting, you don't want to anymore.

"E- even though my story has a happier ending than Ryan's, I didn't get off scot-free. My- my reaction time is slower, my fine motor skills are severely impaired, sometimes I forget words, I have a hard time focusing sometimes- I- I still have to take epilepsy medication and our house is baby-proofed just in case."

The class sat stunned.

"He cares because he knows what can happen."
