It was a slow day in the BAU office; everyone was neck deep in paperwork and struggling to keep awake. Everyone, that is, except for Spencer Reid. The young doctor was bouncing his leg furiously. He was itching to get off work and back home into the arms of—
"Hey! Pretty boy!"
"Hmm?" Spencer was snapped out of his thoughts. "Yeah, Morgan?"
"We're gettin' lunch from that Thai place. You in?"
It's only lunchtime? Spencer thought in alarm. "Uh, yeah, yeah."
"Yellow curry, side of spring rolls?"
"Yes please!"
Morgan snapped his fingers into finger guns at Spencer.
Spencer rolled his eyes and went back to his files.
Rossi noticed Spencer's leg bouncing and strolled over to him.
"So, what's new with you?"
"Nothing, Rossi."
"Uh huh... nothing? Really?"
"Yes, really!" Spencer snapped.
"Alright kid what gives?"
Spencer sighed. "I'm sorry. I'm just... I'm nervous. That's all."
Rossi clicked his tongue in agreement. "Lady trouble?"
"Uh, something like that." A silence passed between the two. "I'm- I'm worried about our relationship. Things have been a little tense is all and I think h..." Spencer cut himself off. "Listen I really should get back to work."
"Right, right," Rossi mumbled, though, it was evident he wasn't satisfied with the answer he had gotten.
. . .
The next day Spencer came to work chipper as ever. There was a big, goofy grin on his face and an engagement ring on his finger.
"Well, clearly things all worked out," Rossi said with a laugh.
Morgan and JJ looked confused at the two men. They then looked at Reid's hand.
"Hey, Garcia! Get out here!" Morgan hollered.
"Yes, my chocolate thunder?"
"Reid's getting married!" JJ cheered.
"What? No way. No way!"
Spencer nodded excitedly, holding up his hand to show everyone the ring.
"Oh my god, Reid, it's beautiful!" Garcia continued. "Oh my god. This means that SHE proposed! Wait. Who is she? Do we know her? How have we never heard of her? How long have you two been together? Does Hotch know? Did everyone but me know??"
"Baby, baby, give the man some room."
"We met a year ago—"
"Was it through a case?" Garcia pressed.
"No, no," Spencer chuckled. "We met online, actually."
"Well, we gotta celebrate!" Rossi insisted. "Seven o'clock tomorrow at Servio's?"
Everyone agreed and, reluctantly, went back to their desks.
"You should bring your partner," Rossi said softly. "We'd love to meet them."
Spencer hesitated. "I... I'll see."
Every time someone walked past Reid's desk they made some kind of remark: asking some question about you or simply congratulating him. It was all a bit overwhelming for the introverted agent.
