"Whatcha looking at, Pretty boy?"

Reid quickly changed screens.

"Ah ah ah. I know that logo. You're on a dating site!"

"Shh! Morgan, shut up!" Reid growled.

Morgan threw his hands up. "Okay, okay. My bad. But what's gotten into you? Why'd you decide to try online dating?"

"Can we not talk about this here?" Reid groaned.

"Well when else we gonna talk about it?"

"Never?"

Morgan chuckled. "Wow, boy genius got some sass!"

Reid rolled his eyes.

Once Morgan walked away, Reid switched back to the dating site's chat. He saw he had a new notification.

You: Hi! I saw you like Chaucer and I had to message you. Not many people on here are as well read as you.

Reid gulped. He messaged back.

Reid: Yeah, well, when your mother is an English professor you tend to exist on a diet of the greats.

You: ...

You: Quite the wordsmith, aren't we, Spencer Reid.

Reid: *Dr. Spencer Reid.

You: Apologies. I didn't mean to negate all that work you put in for those two letters.

You: I'm sorry that was way out of line.

Reid: No, no. It was rude of me to correct you.

You: No, you were right to do so. Don't be sorry. I am not one of these people who instantly takes umbrage when corrected or - I love being corrected.

Reid smirked.

Reid: Harlan Ellison. Nice.

It was your turn to smile.

You: So... are you free sometime this week? Maybe we could grab a coffee? Talk more about our favorite speculative fiction authors?

The two of you chatted for a few minutes more before agreeing on a time and place.

~ on the date ~

You arrived at the coffee shop seven minutes early and scanned the coffee house. Surely he's not here already, you thought.

"Y/n?" someone called.

You turned around and were met with the most exquisite smoked topaz eyes you'd ever seen.

"H- hi!" you chirped. "Spencer?"

The man nodded. "I hope I didn't scare you."

You shook your head. "Not at all. Though, I am a bit surprised you're here."

You saw a tinge of hurt flash in the man's eyes.

"Oh, no no!" you gasped. "I meant that you're so early! I'm not saying that- uh I'm- I'm not trying to imply that you're- you're some skeeze-ball who stands people up!"

Relief washed over the doctor as he chuckled.

"What?" you asked cautiously.
