You sat on the floor of the bathroom just off yours and JJ's room. Sobbing. There was a lot to process. You didn't remember getting home but clearly, your body remembered how even if your brain didn't.

"How am I gonna tell her?" you whispered to yourself. You fiddled with your wedding ring as you thought about the situation.

"She's not ready," you mumbled. "I'm not ready. We're not ready!"

You eventually peeled yourself off the ground and shuffled to your bed. Flopping down on your back, you let the numbness consume you. It didn't feel real. It all felt like some nightmare you were going to wake up from any second now. But it just kept going on; getting worse and worse every minute.

A familiar jingling of keys snapped you out of your thoughts.

"Y/n?" JJ's voice rang. "You home?"

"Yeah," you replied. "In the bedroom."

"Why are all the lights off—" JJ asked as she walked in.

"I just got back from the doctor's," you blurted out. Your eyes were closed so you couldn't see the fear on your wife's face.

"And?" she asked softly.

All you could do was nod. The numbness fell away and was replaced by that combined feeling of dread and fear.

JJ gasped, covering her mouth.

"I'm sorry," was all you said.

JJ shook her head and crawled into bed with you. Burying her face in your shoulder, she replied, "It's gonna be okay. We're gonna be okay."

You let out a bitter snort. "Well, I'm not gonna be okay."

"Well," JJ started.

"Please," you said, your eyes still closed, "tell me that you're going to be alright."

JJ was silent.

"Please, JJ. I can't... I can't die knowing that you... you're not..."

JJ kissed you on the cheek. "I'll be fine," she whispered.

Sighing slowly, you opened your eyes and rolled over to face JJ. The two of you snuggled up together and stayed like that for the rest of the night. You were making the most out of your last year.
