"~~~" just means a smaller amount of time has passed.

"Anyone wanna hit the town with me and Garcia?" Morgan asked.

"It'll be totally awesome! There's this new bar that opened up a few weeks ago near the square!"

"Well, I'm free," Emily said, throwing her pen down.

"Henry's at a sleepover and Will's pulling a late one so I'll come too."

Garcia clapped. "Amazing! Rossi?"

"Eh, I suppose a scotch wouldn't hurt."

"And you, pretty boy?"

Spencer was hastily packing his things.

"Reid!" Morgan called.

"Hmm? Oh, no, sorry. Can I take a raincheck?"

"That's the third time you've done that this month. What's going on?"

"Nothing, Emily. I- I gotta go."

. . .

"I'm having a little get together at my place tomorrow if anyone's interested," Emily announced. "You're all invited and yes, Reid, I do accept your rain check."

Spencer smiled appreciatively.

"Seriously, man. This has been going on for months now. What's up?"

Spencer sighed. "If- if no one's doing anything tonight," Spencer began, "then I think it's time you guys finally see where I go every day after work."

~~~
"Spence, why are we at the hospital?"
"I'll explain in a minute."
Spencer led the team through the maze of halls until they were standing in front of a specific room.
"Reid, is everything alright?" Garcia asked.
"Uh, so every day after work I come here to visit my brother, y/n."
A stunned silence filled the hall.
"He- he's got a rare autoimmune system condition called adenosine deaminase deficiency. Uh, in- in simpler terms there are missing base pairs in his DNA which make his immune system ineffective. You're okay to go in, don't worry."
Spencer turned around and knocked on the door softly, opening it slowly.
The rest of the team looked at each other worriedly before following him in.
Spencer was sat in a chair next to y/n's bed. Y/n was curled up holding a doll and beneath a Doctor Who blanket.
"This is y/n. He's usually asleep because his body has to work a lot harder to keep him healthy. He might wake up for a few minutes though."
Everyone else stood in an uncomfortable silence. Every few minutes someone would need to go home. One by one they left until Morgan was the only visitor left.
"How old is he?"
"16 in a few weeks," Spencer said, trying to hold back tears.
"I'm so sorry. Is he getting any better?"
Spencer shook his head. "He's on a waiting list for a bone marrow transplant." Spencer let a few tears fall. "Every day I think about how it should be me."
"Don't say that."
"But it's true! He's so young and- and..."
"Shh, shh." Morgan stepped closer to Spencer, placing a hand on his back. "He wouldn't have his strong older brother if you were in his place."
