Thank you, for keeping yourself afloat.
In this dark universe,
where minds drift off boats.
And come back tainted
with dirty lake water.Thank you,
for staying alive.
While hearts break,
and crack and dry
suddenly out of tears.Thank you,
for not giving up.
Through the tough and the harsh
when the goings got tough.
And when the situation got dangerous.Thank you, for keeping a grip on life
even when you held the knife,
or clenched your fist,
or lingered over the trigger,
or over the tap,
or stared over the edge,
or took another drag.Or anything else
in between.
Thank you for not giving in
to a horrible life.
And I hope you stay alive
long past when you find happiness again.
