Dan guessed Phil decided he was going to be as annoyingly happy as possible.

At that thought, he inwardly sighed. The preacher droned on, but Dan had no focus.

Phil didn't care for Dan anymore. He was devoted to Kate. Who, Dan realized, was a mess, but in a different way. She was a drunk, despite holding back for the baby he was pretty sure didn't exist.

He knew she was only two months in, but even then females have at least a bit of a baby bump. Kate, however, was almost sickly skinny, as if she was a druggie. How could there be a baby in there?

Over the past week, Dan had only seen Phil when they were practicing what they'd do for the wedding and the blue eyed boy Dan loved, platonic of course, was joyous. Much more lively than when he showed up at their- Dan's house.

Dan knew he should be happy he was moving on to his new life so well, but he couldn't help feeling awful at the same time.

By the time Dan snapped out of his thoughts, Kate was saying the final "I do." and his cheeks were almost soaked.

He didn't realize he had started crying and, unlike everyone else, it wasn't out of joy.
