Cheesus Crust, Ms. Parker why do you do this to me?!

I mean, yeah, it's great that you got me a real monster...

But I wasn't expecting him!

Why not some random Froggit, or...?

I sighed as I gazed at the very uncomfortable skeleton, who awkwardly put his hand down. He cleared his lack of throat and gave the "What's up?" head motion.

Oh goody gumdrops...

No! Come on Danielle, you are being ridiculous! I can find out more about monsters through him! What's a better way of asking questions about monsters to another monster?

Okay. Here we go.

I grinned in a hopefully friendly manner and held out my hand.

"Hello, I'm Danielle, nice to meet you!"

Sans visibly relaxed and took my hand. He smiled and shook it politely.

"Sans the skeleton. Too bad I didn't bring my whoopee cushion."

Uh, what? I stared at him in confusion, but he only laughed. His laugh sounded genuine and really deep, but something about it...

Back to my mission! I blinked as Ms. Parker started to push us. Now it was Sans' turn to look surprised. She pushed us out the door into the sidewalk, then winked at me.

"You two better get going! You'll need a better place to start asking questions!"

Well, looks like she kicked us out. Ms. Parker strode back into the library with a skip in her step; winked at me again, and slammed the door with finality.

"Uh..." Sans shook his head and went back to smirking. "While we are out here, why don't we grab some grub?"

I like the way you think, mister. I nodded to him and he started to walk, that beam not leaving his face. The sun shone brightly down on us; not a cloud in the any to stop it, and the wind blew just right through my pink thin top. I breathed in, and let my shoulders drop as my tense-ness washed away.

"So, uh, can I ask you a few questions?" I turned to him, having to bend down a little when I realize he is shorter than me. I ignored the pain blossoming in my neck as I did so.

"Um, sure. Knock yourself out." Sans placed his hand in his pocket and produced a lighter and a cigarette. He lit it; and placed it in between his teeth. "And, uh, you don't have to do that."

"Oh! Sorry." I straightened again and rubbed my aching muscles. I flinched as the smell of smoke hit the air; reminding me of my Uncle...

My Uncle. Uncle Jessy, to be precise. He took care of me for as long as I can remember, and was my only other family that I know of. He was pretty gruff and grumpy, but his heart was usually in the right place. Although he was always vague with his answers on my powers, and my other cat form.
He would just whip his head around; then whisper: "Just keep it a secret, 'kay?"

Oh yeah, and he smokes too. Well, let's hope Sans will answer more clearly.

"Ahem, so Sans, why do monsters have magic?" I guess I'll start with that one.

"Hmm." Sans stretched his arms high in the air and yawned; giving me a tiny shrug. "We always had it, has something to do with our SOULS."

SOULS. That's sounds like that might be the key to my situation!

"Alright, then can human's have magic too? How does it work?" I refrained from asking too many questions, but it was really hard not too. The fact that magic exists is still mind-blowing, and many scientists were struggling for figure out how it works.

"Huh. Humans do have magic, just not out kind. Their way of manipulating magic is through great traits, like DETERMINATION." That's sounds important. "Or something like that anyway. As for your second question, magic is something produced by your SOUL and is expelled in raw energy. You can choose the way you expelled it, and make it into many different attack strategies."

I didn't expect him to know so much. I gazed at him in astonishment. Don't judge a book by its cover, I guess.

Sans halted and smiled once again, flung the cigarette put of his mouth and stepping on it. "Here is the place."

"Grillby's." I read out aloud. I remember hearing somewhere that a monster started a restaurant near the center of Ebottsville, but I never been there. Uncle Jessy's cooking is hard to beat.

"Yeah; I go here all the time. Come on, I want you to meet my smoking hot bartender." Sans lead me inside, and I felt a little weirded out by several things.

1. This is a bar?
2. He is holding my hand.
3. There is a lot of monsters here.
4. The bartender is actual fire.

"Hey, Grillbz!" My companion called; gesturing to me. "Table for two."

The flame monster, Grillby, looked quite stunned but sat us down in a booth near the front of the building. He snapped out his notebook and and a pen and asked us quietly (literally, I had to lean in to hear him) what would we like to drink.

"Just Coke please." I squirmed a bit; I didn't expect to be in a restaurant. As much as I love food, it left my mind that he wanted to go here. What is he going to order?

"The usual." Wow, he must come here a lot. Grillby bowed deeply, then walked away, still leaving the scent of steam.

"Can I contuine?" I inquired, resting my elbows on the hard table. Sans leaned back and glanced outside the window near us. He dipped his skull.

"Uh... have human's ever been reported of having actual magic?"

"Uh, maybe. In the older days, human's had magic." He seemed very distracted now.

"So, would it be too far of to suggest that human might have magic now?" I bit my lip as he turned to with with a slightly suspicious gleam in hus eyesockets.

"I guess not, why do ya ask?"
