"Hey! What'cha doing?" A high-pitched voice crack followed like the wail of a crushed bird.
Grilldyne groaned. Her moves became lighting-quick, her fingers a scrolling machine, and her gaze skating across the screen with un-matched prowess. Something only the Captain of the Royal Guard can do, of course. Special training. Eh, sorry.
"No, really, what are you...? I can't really tell." Dogpants squinted and craned his neck, but to no avail. He sniffed. A black plume of smoke thrashed from his dog-treat.
Grilldyne's eye did not move from the dim screen, still ruffling through a, interesting rant- post! Post by Galphys.
Dogpants tapped his chin, as if checking if his facial hair sprouted yet. News flash- it didn't. "Are you busy? I'm kinda backed up to the corner. Literally. It's a full house in there."
He wiggled his paw over to the door leading out from the kitchen to the main part of the bar, but his wide, thin-slitted pupil look really sold it.
Crap. Grilldyne slid her tongue over her lips. She'd have to come out today. Her eye nicked a glance a her clock. No where near closing time.
No. Not again. Her placed her phone down to smooth her temples. Why did this happen? Grilldyne didn't know if she was asking why the fusion between her and Grillby happened- or why did this sudden rush-hour occur.
A tawny paw flitted into her vision. "Hello? Did you hear me? I said-"
"I heard you." She snapped, her finger joining unto the snapping as well. That was the usual trend when she was upset.
"Oh. Good." Dogpants flinched away. "So, are you going to help me or am I going to be stomped into next week by Greater Bratty?"
Grilldyne scoffed. If Flowrus was anyone to go by, then Greater Bratty usually wasn't the type to go smashing time into pieces. Although, he isn't always a trustworthy source...
Flowrus. It's not possible his wading through that crowd. Right? I better be right.
"I get the feeling you keep forgetting about me." The somber grumble peeled her from her cyclone of thoughts. She watched as the canine fiddled with his poorly concealed cigar.
"Yeah, I'm just gonna go." His shoulders fell a notch in defeat as he trudged back to the aforementioned chaos.
Grilldyne straightened from her chair in a flash, introducing the abused chair to the floor. All the while she resisted the urge to chew her own abused thumb. She caught herself searching for a escape route; like the jagged hole behind the stove, or the secret switch that unlocks fire exit.
Wait, what am I doing? She took a breath and a couple mental steps back.
Yes. Insisted a cool, calm, and collected voice that could've only been in her head. Calm down. Nothing will happen to us.
"Do you know that?" Grilldyne ventured, and immediately regretted it. This shouldn't bother her. It hadn't before she realized she was stuck in a body with a complete stranger until "further notice".
However, there was that lingering possibility for Grilldyne staying this way forever. So, she had to find some way to get cozy. She just can't assume a little human child can fix all this on their own.
She still ran away at the mention of others. She tucked herself behind furniture when the mere name of Galphys pummeled her ear fins. What was wrong with her? She never acted this way before Grillby. Now, she's a paranoid, glassy-eyed, grilled fish. In that exact order.
