He placed an arm around my shoulders as I continue to sob quietly. Everyone was too focused on their own business to even notice us.

“He isn’t gonna like it if he’d see you right now.” Nathan said as he wiped another tear off my face.

He would have smacked me. I thought to myself. I can tell that even my wolf was devastated, she haven’t talked to me after the battle.

He sighed, “You know.. I wish I just have died instead of him.” He whispered the last part and I shot a look at him. Him die? And somehow.. something at the bottom of my heart, a little tiny piece has that feeling that made me stood up and I smacked him without a minute to spare. “What?” he whined. I hissed at him as a reply.

He rolled his eyes at me. “Fine.. but my wolf’s really breaking apart seeing you like this.” He pouted, he tried to make it a joke but it was all seriousness.

I laughed. Louder than I’d expected it to be. Well, that got everyone’s attention. “Excuse her, she’s starting to go crazy from the pain.. I feel it.” Nathan made a ‘tsk-tsk’ sound shaking his head as if pitying me and he placed his right hand on the place of his heart for another effect.

Everyone returned to their businesses as Nathan took a sit.

“Really?” I said.

“Got any ideas hot chock?” he rolled his eyes but it’s still evident that he’s smiling.

I frowned at him “hot chock?” A smile playing on my lips. He choked on his own spit. “It slipped!” he said defensively, “Sorry!” he continued. I sent him an accusing glare, “Slipped?” I said.

I don’t know where this confidence came from but all I know is that I’m not the sullen Nathalie anymore. This loneliness of mine was abrupt because of Nathan.

Would I give him a chance?

No, I shook my head. He would think I’m using him as a rebound. I don’t like it.

“It’s fine with me, as long as I can see you smile like that again.” Nathan’s voice suddenly echoed in my ears as I realize that he heard my thoughts.

“yes, yes I did.”

“You should seriously stop that.” I mumbled as I try to dry my face and remove the stickiness from the tears.

“You should stop thinking about me.” He winked and I gave him a daring smile. “I’d be glad to.”

His eyes widen and suddenly started to explain so fast all I did was smile.

“Hey?” he shouted and I saw him waving at my face.

He smiled goofily, this side of him was foreign to me but I would gladly get to know him without all the insults and rejection. “You’re daydreaming.” He said.

“Me? Pshhh, never.” I said and I stared at him again.

You’re just proving his point. A voice said inside my head.

And out of nowhere he suddenly made my stomach take all kinds of turns as he hugged me. Leaves and rivers, he smelled like that, my favorite place in the world. The forest

Present

“Hey Grace.” My manager, Kelly, greeted me the moment I stepped foot at the studio.

A leather black couch took the half of the space at the left side and on the right is our recording booth where most of the instruments are; guitars, a drum and a keyboard. Recording machines are installed at the front of the window as four tool chairs are arranged neatly. A small refrigerator and a little drawer beside. The room wasn’t too big, it wasn’t also too small.

“You ready?” Kelly asked me as she sat on one of the tool chairs.

“It’s now or never.” I muttered.
