“Seriously?” my eyes widened as he looked at me with a serious expression. They are really serious about training me. We’re in Eric’s office, by we I mean me, John, Jake and Eric, since they’re the only one who knew about me, not even the elders. Eric replied, busy with something in his computer, “Unless you remember everything related to fighting.” He said.
Oh yeah, I don’t even remember how to punch properly.
“I..” I couldn’t finish my sentence as my brain process all the information. “See.” He simply pointed out making me sigh. “They won’t accept you, you look nothing like her duh.” John said, making Jake smack him in the back of his head, again. “I’m starting to think that you’re the reason why John became like this.” I said to Jake who stared at me with a bored expression. “Wait what?” I blurted out, my brain focusing on John’s words.
Eric glared at him, making him wince a little. He let out a sigh before scratching the back of his head with a frown on his face like he’s saying ‘Thanks for stressing me out by asking another question.’
He stared at me finally, “You see.. in the past years, there are plenty of wolves trying to take your place. Saying that they’re the Black Night. The council made them go through different exercises to prove that they are indeed the one. No one has still passed.” He finished, looking at his computer again, ignoring the shocked and angry girl in front of him
“You’re going to undergo special training.” He said, returning to the old topic. “And we’re gonna train you.” John said, grinning at me.
So I am really throwing my normal life away. Am I ready to face my fears again? Am I ready to fight? To lose something again, oh wait, yeah, I lost everything. I should be ready.
Okay I’m so not ready for this. That punch was too much! He didn’t say go.
“Wait wait wait wait.” I said, panting. We’ve only been training for 20 minutes and my body couldn’t go on anymore.
“Hey! You can do more than that.” John said, his face crunched up in a disappointed way. It’s not my fault he looked at me like his idol, I’ve changed, obviously.
Eric and Jake are looking at us a few feet away. Eric’s still not finished reading the book and Jake’s too busy with his phone.
“Focus!” John said, making me glare at him. His bubbly childish self has been replaced by a strict and angry trainer. “I am!” I said in the same tone as his.
“I really couldn’t believe I had a crush on you.” He said bluntly, like it was no big deal. Then my lips went into a smirk.
I placed my hands in my hips. “Oh really.” I said, squinting my eyes at him. He blushed immediately and denied “No, I mean, I-I, I was amazed! You know, when you fight, the stories! The stories!” he was still talking when I punched him in the stomach, making him double over in pain.
“Unfair.” He choked out and I gave him a smile before offering my hand. “That’s it for today?” I asked him. He composed himself before replying “Nope.” And at the same time, throwing a punch on my right that I dogged, making me throw him a ‘are you crazy!?’ look.
He just smirked at me before running towards my direction. I went behind him but he easily felt my movement that’s why I was easily thrown on my back.
“Really?” I coughed, the shock still inside my body, making me stiff for a moment. “Oh Buttercups are you alright?” he said, kneeling beside me. “Ya think so?” I said, trying to move my body slowly to ease the pain. I bit back a wince as a particular movement left my body on fire. “Okay, you’re not fine.” He said before turning around to call Eric and Jake, but I stopped him. “I’m f-fine.” I forced myself to sit up, ignoring the slight pain on my back. “You’re a one strong lass.” He offered me his hand and I took it with no hesitation. Did I forgot to tell you he was half British?
“Yeah.” I groaned, “Nothing I can’t handle.” I said before making my way towards the house, limping.
“You know, I wonder how I even became like that.” I honestly said to Jake. We both had to take a break so we decided to hang out in the kitchen for a while, leaving the two clueless brothers outside. “Me either.” He whispered, hoping that I wouldn’t hear. “Heard that.” I punched him in the arm playfully.
“Hey!” he smiled “I was serious!” he raised his arms in defense, “I am too!” I retorted making him laugh.
“But honestly,” he said after laughing his guts out, “..you’re different from what I knew.” I smiled, looking at him with a sad smile. “Some things make people change.” I softly said looking straight in his eyes. “Yeah..” he said.
A moment of silence passed..
He coughed awkwardly, making me drink my juice. “Yeah.” I said.
“Yeah.” He said.
“You know you’re pretty weird.” I said bluntly.
He seemed to be taken aback by my statement. “I couldn’t understand your personality, It kept on changing.” I continued.
He gave me a bright smile, “You noticed.”
My eyes widened “So you do that on purpose!!” I said, pointing an accusing finger at him as I shot up from my seat.
He shrugged “It’s difficult.” Before taking a sip of his pepsi. “Tell me.” I said, rolling my eyes in the process.
“You know, you’re not a bad dude after all.” He said making me choke in my own spit.
“Did you just call me a dude?” I asked him with a raised eyebrow. “yeah?” he said, unsure if he’ll deny it or not.
“Okay.” I said, grinning as he let out a sigh of relief.
“Okay, let’s hit the field.” He took one last sip from the can and stood up.
I groaned “Fine.”
Well, this time, I hope I wouldn't be on the ground again.
