Luke was laughing at something the girl said. His blue eyes shining slightly, hiding the pain inside.

Shane is sitting on the opposite side of Luke. I looked at the name of the cafe Pained Coffee. Accurate. So very accurate to what I'm feeling right now.

Shane looked at my direction before smiling... like she was never my enemy.

She's one of the reasons why me and Nathan never got together... she kept him wrapped around her little finger.

And don't forget about the fact that she was trying to poison someone at the pack. (AN: It's in book 1, when Nathalie overheard her talking to someone on the phone.)

Apparently, Shane has no idea who I am. Well, I am pretending to be someone different.

Before I knew it, the sound of metal clanging filled my ears meaning that someone entered the café... and that someone is me.

I walked towards the counter, ignoring Luke's gaze on my back.

"Hello, welcome to the Pained Café." A girl about 17 years old greeted me.

"What can I get for you?" her brown eyes shining bright, reflecting the light above the counter.

"Um..." I looked over the menu, wondering which drink would satisfy my taste.

"What about I choose for you?" she offered with a big smile.

"Okay." I smiled back at her. I silently gave her a thank you because I have no idea how this café runs.

She gave me another smile before reaching for the blender and ice.

She seemed to be cheerful, total opposite of the name of this café.

"Why is it called Pained?" I suddenly asked her, my curiosity winning the control over my mouth.

She glanced at me before smiling again. "Because the items here are invented by the owner when she was left by the love of her life." she smiled at me again. Then a pang of anger filled my chest.

Is she doing this on purpose?

"... my grandfather left her." she said sadly, before smiling again. Like she wasn't affected at all.

I'm so judgemental, it was her grandparents after all. Not me.

She didn't stop talking "... come to think of it, she wouldnt have met my step grandfather if she didn't leave my asshole grandfather." she said with ease and normality like how often we say 'what time is it' every morning.

She finished making the drink with only the blanket of silence covering the whole café.

"I'm Kandy by the way. Kandy with an K." She gave me the cup.

"Grace." I said, reaching for it.

"Nice." She replied.

"Thanks again." I said, reaching for the cup before turning around and heading for the door.

I reached for the knob the same time Luke did.

And something went of my skin, waking my wolf up.

It was a feeling impossible to be shared to the others.

A feeling I felt more than 10 years ago.
