My morning was filled with sweat and dirt. Day by day our training time has increased. And I don’t know whether I was making progress or not. All I know is that my meeting with the ground is usually postponed.
But since Eric decided to train me again, it was easily taken back.
“Why do you have to train?” Marinelle said from outside the bathroom. I closed the shower and grabbed the towel outside the curtain.
I changed my clothes inside and I already brushed my teeth and combed my hair.
“You still haven’t answered my question.” She said, peeking from the candy magazine.
“You have plenty of things you don’t know about me.” I shrugged. We are friends, but my life is pretty difficult in this situation. She shouldn’t know, it’ll only make her think and do things that shouldn’t be done.
“Why wouldn’t you tell me? I told mine yours.” She said a bit sad. I let out a sigh. “My life’s complicated Mary.” I said, facing her. I was trying to figure out how to charge my phone but the fact that I don’t have the charger already makes my mind give up. “Grace ….. See! I don’t even know your whole name!” she raised her hands in exaggeration as she rolled on my bed.
She sounded so offended I wanted to tell her. She was my friend and it was really unfair of me not to tell her, but we’ve only known each other for a week. I don’t know whether to trust her or not. Time can only tell.
But her next words had me frozen to my spot.
“I don’t care if you’re probably Nathalie Steele, I don’t care if you’re Angelina Jolie’s secret daughter, heck I don’t care if you’re probably my mother!” she said.
She told me about her mother, who had left her the moment she’d been born. Leaving her to her father and brother. She told me she didn’t care about it but the sadness in her eyes was something I can’t ignore.
But it was really weird that she’d told me this within a week. And I’ve already thought about what the Moon Goddess have told me.
Choose your friends wisely…
How can I know who my friends are?
I was snapped out of my thoughts when Eric barged in my room. “Grace, let’s go.” He said.
I nodded, I looked at Marinelle for approval. “You have to go?” she asked me with a pout.
“Yeah, but Jake’s downstairs.” I said, making her eyes shine brighter than the sun. She left my room immediately, so I locked it after going out myself. I spotted Marinelle approach Jake, who was grinning from ear to ear as he saw Marinelle walk in his direction.
“Does she know?” Eric whispered in my ear. So he heard out conversation.
“No.” I said before going inside the garage and into the black BMW. It was a 30 minutes ride from the pack house to the pack hospital.
The car ride was silent, except for a few headaches, which is usual nowadays.
“So how are you feeling?” he asked me, awkwardness in the air.
I fumbled with the strap of my shoulder bag.
“Moody.” I said, looking at the trees passing by. “I can see.” He chuckled.
Moves like jagger suddenly filled the car. I looked at Eric who reached for his back pocket. “Hello?” he said, not bothering to look at the caller ID.
I heard someone talking the other side but I couldn’t interpret who it was. Eric sighed in slight irritation before replying. “We’re going to see Zach.” He said, looking straight at the road.
